Noone outside the US knows about the new albums!

Without using a major record company and promoting this on his own, noone outside the US (xcept the fans) know about the albums.
Unless they happen to glance at them in the new releases section of record shops.
There has been zero promotion particularly here in the UK and it's a great shame as these are his best albums in years.
When I mention it to friends they are quite surprised that he has any new albums out!

My friends have been like that since he released Diamonds & Pearls. When there was the huge Planet Earth promotion, most people I know thought it was his first album in years.
RIP sad

The problem is, in order for Prince and other US acts 2 do any real promotion for their new releases, they have 2 actually fly over here to appear on any shows, and the UK doesnt have any really good shows for Prince and others 2 appear on, like they do in the USA!!!! The UK doesnt have any shows of the same magnitude, like Letterman, Leno, Fallon, O'Brien, or even any decent daytime shows for these acts 2 appear on!! lets face it, I wouldnt wish my worse enemy 2 appear on Jonathan Ross' show, which basically is all that the UK has got!!!! So, is it really worth Prince and other US acts flying all the way over there to promote stuff!!!!!????? I dont think so!!!! sad sad sad sad Also,, the last thing, I want 2 see Prince on, is The One Show, being interviewed by those 2 idiots!!!!! lol lol lol

So, basically, over in the UK, its just word of mouth, happenstance sightings of new releases in record stores and reviews in the UK music press!!!nod nod

i think that is why he did the brit awards for 3121.
the xfactor is about the only thing that would get enough viewers. that and topgear which gets about 350 million viewers worldwide. but prince would have to be interviewed and wouldn't be able to perform. parkinson was about the only credible talk show in the uk, but it is finished now.

He could go on the Graham Norton Show. Prince has a great sense of humour so I'm sure he'd enjoy it.
Besides TV, what about airplay? No singles have been released for the albums.
It's unfortunately gonna end up going straight into the Prince section in record shops' A-Z listings and not appearing in the charts like all his albums over the past 10 years apart from Musicology and 3121 briefly.
And it costs £29.99 (about $40)! Why? US residents only pay £12.
Fans will probably pay that price but anyone else who's curious about an artist won't.

Very 60s & 70s activity. Underground is cool cuz once it goes that right; everyone scampers to get the music.

I heard some reference to the new cd's here on dutch radio.
Info was not 100% correct, but they did mention 'a' website and the fact that there is no distribution in Europe for the album because ' Prince thinks that is a good way to sell cd's ' smile
