I knew the Stand Back story but IO never knew the Purploe Rain tape story. I wonder how much that tape is worth now. I wonder if Prince cut a slice of Stevie (I bet he did cool ).

I don't understand why he never was credited on the album. I also heard other versions which denied that he was involved with Standback....interesting

I thought he was credited at least for the keys as Alexander Nevermind.

nice story, but it keeps changing too much over the decades for me to trust any version of it. especially from her, since she's the one that keeps changing it lol

I've read about this for years and it was in her greatest hits liner notes but actually hearing her say this story for some reason made me actually teary eyed.
Especially when the "I'll be there in in 20 minutes" part.

weirdest thing is if this is true that explains why in 91 when Prince played he MTV music awards I was sitting in the same row as Stevie and I asked her did Prince write Stand Back for you and she angrily replied "NO I WROTE IT FOR HIM" sheesh 18 years later and all this time I wondered why she was so pissed when I asked. This explains everything if it's true.
