DAYS OF WILD

Does anybody like me want to hear (DYING TO HEAR) the studio version of DOW? I like the live version, but I need to hear the original because of the additional sounds like the animal noises etc. Keep in mind that I like the studio version of Enmachine from Gold the best because of the cow bells etc. ALSO, i hate to say it but, what is Xenophobia ? (the song). My question is, is it a Instrumental? a song containing words?

Days Of Wild studio version doesn't sound very spectacular.
It's one of those songs that really come alive when he does
them on stage.

The studio version circulating on boots sounds a bit flat.
As far as I know there are two versions, a short one and
a long extended one that has a longer musical ending.

Seems like Days Of Wild is a song he's very pleased with &
one that he keeps putting on the setlist and re-writing to
fit in with the other material he plays.

I wonder why he took it off TGE. Was it just because it
didn't work that well as a studio take or did he take it
off because he didn't want Warners to own the master of
this track?

DOW always sounds like something he'd like to release as
an official single with a video. He's released it twice
in official format now. Once on CB and once as the live
single on sale now at npgmc.

Xenophobia is a track from a jazz fusion album of the same
name that was promoted several times this year, but which
has yet to see the light of day.

It's most likely all instrumental. But I'm not sure since
I haven't heard a single note off it. There are people who
heard it played over the pa at the soundchecks during the
tour.

A lot of people seem to still harbour some kind of hope that
this album will be sent out as the last disc to conclude
this year's npgmc membership. But I'm not holding my breath
and have already accepted that ona live box is probably the
one and only thing we'll get.

xenophobia is the title track of an unreleased prince jazz album, it sounds like madhouse stuff, it does have lyrics but only limited!

If you visit the official site (when it's operational) the music loop playing on the homepage is 'xenophobia', so it's likely you have heard a few notes: the part played is the refrain or lead line from the horns.

In concert Prince speaks phrases which seem to relate to the interrogation and search of people who are about to board a plane e.g. 'Do you mind if I touch your back?', @Do you have any sharp obbjects on you?' etc.. I didn't detect any of these spoken comments when I heard playback of the studio version over the PA at concerts, but I was paying close attention. It is essentially an instrumental.

DOW, the celly version, is funky as hell...
I love this song, agree, it must be heard
live to appreciate it.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Actually, i think i like the studio version better, the way he raps (and the samples)... and the music sounds way broken down, if you know what i mean. Although some live versions have this cool rrrabbit - frog like sound that was very VERY funky, around th etime he played it live in the Gold Experience Tour.
yes SIR!

The studio version is "ok",
but almost every live version
I've ever heard kicks it's ass!

It just doesn't have the energy
of the live versions.

Days Of Wild was pulled from
The Gold Experience at the
last minute. I suspect it
was in response to the critics
previews of the album. Ages
before the album was released
prince let several music paper
journalists have an advance
listening to the album, which
was subsequently reviewed and
published. All the reviews
were very favorable, but most
of them didn't rate Days Of
Wild very highly.

I think prince was unsure about
the studio version of the
track. He knew it kicked ass
live, but it never quite
translated very well in the
studio, and I think that the
poor reviews of the song from
the critics made him decide
to shelve it at that time.

I heard that prince had actually
recorded many studio versions
of the track, but he was never
really satisfied with any of
them, hence the inclusion of
a live version on Crystal Ball.
