When did Prince fans start caring about the charts?

AKA Are we Michael Jackson fans?

Tell me, what did Sign 'O The Times reach on the USA charts? 1999? Dirty Mind? Exactly.

Since this...

I let it go after I read this on the 5th of April..... ...Fix

this album is slanted to come in at #2 on the Billboard charts behind country crooner Keith Urbans’ Defying Gravity, which was also released the same week. Beyond numbers though, one should realize that Prince’s album was sold exclusively at Target and not at every music store in the nation like Urbans’. Thus bragging rights go to the man himself, Prince
.

I want Prince's music to be appreciated and celebrated and numbers on the charts are not really accurate as to how many ppl love and support Prince.

Again he will always be my numero uno biggrin

Since when is it a bad thing to care about the charts, as a Prince fan?

I think that most of us feel that he has always been underappreciated as an

artist. And I believe that this bothers many of us. Most people don't know

what this man can do. Part of me thinks that this is a good thing because

only we know. I mean much of the magic would be lost if everybody obsessed

about this man's music. I don't know if even Prince would be too thrilled with

that idea.

Having said all that, again I think that most Prince fans feel that the masses

don't give him his due.

Just an example. Prince can play guitar and rock out with the best of all time.

But rock radio won't touch his music. What's up with that?
I've got a guitar that can part the sea.

Charts, schmarts.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
