The reason Prince's new album is good rather than great is..

..simply because he doesn't sing in falsetto that much.

If u look @ his most memorable commercial hits Kiss, MBGITW etc and some of the lesser known but beloved underground classics like Adore he sings in that amazing Prince perfected falsetto..

I think the music on Lotusflow3r is astounding & God knows P is a very gifted musician but I think it fails where he doesn't use 2 things much anymore in his studio performances..

1. Falsetto
2. Genuine emotion thats not contrived and sounding like a man trying 2 be who he was 25 years ago..##

Old Prince, U can never beat young Prince, stop trying, be urself & bring back the falsetto & genuine emotion. neutral

Even worse, he's using that stupid ass Cher "Do You Believe in Life After Love" sound effect on his voice, much like today's rappers do disbelief

Purple Rain had one falsetto song, granted it was one of the best. 1999 didn't have that many either. I think reason 2 holds more weight.

MPLSound is great. His funkiest, most melodic-driven album in years. This is the kind of fun, energetic album I've been waiting for from Prince for a long time now.

I wouldn't class Lotusflow3r with his absolute best, but it's still a downright improvement on the safe lacklustre albums like 3121 and Musicology. $ is his most convincing funk workout in years, Colonized Mind is lyrically amongst his best work and Crimson & Clover is just beautiful - a huge improvement on the original.

This is probably the most I've enjoyed a new Prince release in over ten years.

I Love the albums..."4ever," is Prince's sweet romantic vocals....

Prince's vocal versatility really shows through on this collection...I'm just lovin' them.

With Prince...I never want to expect...I just want to listen. cool

This is probably my biggest complaint with MPLSound.

When Kanye West does a whole album like this, you know the trend is over and it's time to move on.

Bit late to the review party but just got the new CD this weekend in the UK...

Ok played the songs i've already heard and like first so now for a real review playing the album as a whole....out of 5 ***** stars

The Best Tracks on MPLSOUND for me are.....
Chocolate Box ... really like it now *** (it grows on you not bad)
Dance 4 ME ....A Classic Prince Track of the Future ***** (This should be a 10 out of 5 its so good)
U're gonna C Me ...very cool in the wrong place on the CD but good ****
Valentina ...funny / cool (lyrics are poor but it's fun ) ***
Here....stars * (worst track on the CD just have to skip it - should have put Turn Me Loose on here)
Ol Skool Company ...like it good groove gets a **** (Could have been faster like the live version on Leno)
No More Candy 4 U .....funny lyrics...but poor track for a Album...(Prince should have put F.U.N.K on here then it would make the CD a true hit) **
There'll Never be ALM ....poor lyrics ...ok music ... **
Better With Time ....very good track ...music cool ...nice lyrics.. ***

Not bad P ...like it but get Turn me loose and FUNK on this Album and it would be a near classic for sure
Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

eye think Prince would NEVER try 2 b like the old Prince...he's some1 else an evolved Prince 1 that has grown out of the old Prince and it's all 4 the better bcause it allows him 2 go in2 different things. Thank God he's not the same... eye think reruns of Prince would b depressing although eye do miss his falsetto which sort comes out in Crimson and Clover:)
