Yes, he has changed since Dirty Mind and Controversy Days and even since MAYTE. He is Much More Into Romance and it shows in his Music.

In other words: he is getting old.

He's over 50 now and it might look/sound rather silly to be considered a "Dirty Ol' Mad who is over consumed about the subject of sex.

But to get back at your question. Prince is more romantic than sexual in his music nowadays. He's had plenty of years to be sexual, guess he's over that.
And his religion is a big reason, I don't think the JW's like to hear him sing about anal sex..... which of course he isn't.

I think this is the main reason. Part of it is probably age too - we all mellow a bit in time. I think that he wants to be sexual still, but is also bound by his religion. So he goes the romance route. And when he does try and get sexual, the limitations he put on himself make it seem kinda forced at times. He used to be sly and witty with his sexual lyrics, but now it's mostly awkward and lazy.

I find it odd that Prince always made sex and the elation of being in touch with God synonymous. We know he often mixed sex and religion into one big ball o' fun. Yet as Prince has gotten his JW walking shoes on, suddenly the two are very separate. God made sex, and it made it wonderful. So now it seems Prince did a 180 on his very own idealisms about sex and God, especially once he seems to be more in touch with God's word.

its kinda gross now when he gets dirty. I think the more smaltzy romantic stuff actually works better with him now.

Prince is definitely more Romantic than sexual...it just seems that the sexy songs can make more of a mental impression.
