OK- how much are these commercials costing? OK - I have now seen the Prince Target commercial on every major network and during some of the top rated shows on television including:
American Idol Oprah Celebrity Apprentice The Mentalist Lie to Me Jay Leno (of course) just to name a few - it seems every time I am fast forwarding through commercials with my Tivo now I see that cool image of him in the Target commercial. My question now becomes: how much is it costing Target to buy all this time? I assume they are buying the time as part of their deal with Prince? If the album is not a huge hit, will they take a loss and then will this be deemed yet another failed attempt to market his music? A debut at #1 would have helped but now it looks like a #2 debut is going to happen to a Keith Urban CD for which I have seen zero commercials of any kind. I understand that sales are probably hurt by the CD only being available at Target but still I have not seen an advertising campaign for a new CD like this one in a very long time (if ever)... Just a point for discussion or if anyone from the TV industry here has an idea of how this stuff plays out it would be interesting to know... Thanks...

Keith Urban doesn't need commercials because some of his songs off the album are played on the radio. People ( except hard core fans) are buying the cd based upon advertisement. This is rare. Usually people have to hear a couple of songs before they purchase a cd. I think Prince and Target have been successful despite coming in at # 2. Also, it shows there is still interest in Prince. Prince believes he is a musical prophet that has been chosen by Jehova to guide his fans to the "truth".

Absolutely its a success! He would possibly blown KU's albumn straight out of the water if there had air play. Don't get me wrong, I like me some KU and am happy for his #1 status and wish him well Prince's Sarah
