To the UNTRAINED EAR... Prince's "Camille" voice must reminds folks of the clip above. I've heard folks complain about the F.U.N.K track sounding weird or wondering what was wrong with his voice on Erotic city. Personally, I love it when he does the Camille voice, cause he normally combines it with a fiesty attitude. But a lot of fans complain about it. Do you like the Camille voice? I've grown to love the Camille voice. I didn't like it as a kid in the 80's, with the exception of U Got The Look, but that was after multiple spins.
As I got older and learned more about Prince, I realized how cool it was for P to play with his voice like that. Now I know that if I hear the "Camille" voice, it's about to go DOWN and it's more than likely going to be a hot song and usually it is.  I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

Me too. It seemed like he had abandoned the 'Camille' voice for a long time until FUNK came out. Nice to hear it return on MPLSound. My personal favorite Camille song is "Feel U Up" long version...speaks to my eternal inner teen! Very occasionally it works when the lyrics/song demand it; If I was your girlfriend, Crystal Ball, Bob George, but most of the time it doesn't do it for me.
I love his voice as it is, think God, Solo, P Control: he's a really amazing versatile singer, so that running his voice through some computer is just unnecessary. That doesn't just apply to Camille, but other "effects" as well, like the low voice in All my Dreams, | |
