I highly doubt that. Prince perms his hair and uses these types of products. His hair looks too good to be using "old school" products. Actually...they were. And as for olive oil being an "old school" product, it's sure being used a whole lot nowadays and is being added to alot of hair products. I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

I was meaning that Prince probably was not using straight olive oil on his hair. I know people use real olive oil on their hair. Especially on babies with kinky hair. My grandmother used to use it on kids hair to comb it. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

True. Olive, Coconut and Castor oil has been used in hair (black hair types, ethnic, i.e., kinky or coarse, half-straight, thick-curly)) as a moisturizer for the scalp for years;promotes hair growth. It's been used in the Caribbean for ages. It's amazing that many of the people born in the Caribbean had a gold-mine in their backyard and didn't know it. Now you have all these companies taking these natural products and making money off of it. [Edited 4/7/09 22:21pm]

I doubt it, much too thick, there's better products out there now. Dixie Peach, Royal Crown are outdated. Times have changed and much better hair products out there now for all types of hair. Although, many hair products contain petroleum. I'm glad they have been making Olive oil in the spray form, and also the daily conditioning lotion for moisture, as well as the pomade for the scalp, which is not as thick as the pomades they made years ago. Although you will find some petroleum in many of the hair products. There is a hair pomade called "Kocatah" made of Coconut oil and Tar Oil. Made by a company called "Imperial "DAX" Company, (made in the USA and in the UK), which has been putting out hair pomades with many of these oils, long before all these other hair companies discovered they could copy these products and include these oils in them. Some of their pomades have a mixture of coconut/vegetable and castor oils with lanolin, and also sell each of them separately. They also have a shampoo as well. "Kocatah" is mainly for those who have bad dandruff and extremely dry scalp issues. Yes you can say "yuck" because it has a very strong tar oil smell (which is obvious as soon as you open the jar). It should only be used for hair (different variations of black type hair, i.e. very, tightly-curled hair, coarse/kinky, etc.) that has been extremely damaged, to the point where it broke down to the scalp or like mentioned above for dandruff problems. It should be put on the scalp lightly, not in thick portions. It will promote hair growth. I would not recommend using this during the summer months though, because of the heat and it would not smell very good. It's one of those old-fashioned remedies that's been outnumbered by all the new hair products today, but still around. Many hair companies have been making money off of it and put tar oil in shampoos, conditioners now for all types of hair. I also remember this product below, that was very popular in the 80s and it can be used on "all" types hair no matter what race/ethnicity. It gives thin hair volume, and promotes growth. Their products used to fly off the shelves, but since then, so many hair companies have put out so many other hair products, that this one got lost in the dust. It's weird because horse owners used this to make horse's mane thick and discovered it could be used on human hair. You can google this if you want to. You'd be surprised what's in most beauty products that make the hair grow. Ingredients: WATER, SODIUM LAURYL SULPHATE, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, COCAMIDE DEA, GLYCOL DISTEARATE, FRAGRANCE, HYDROLYZED PROTEIN, SODIUM CHLORIDE, CITRIC ACID, DMDM HYDANTOIN. Anyone can use the products. I don't have oil hair so it helps to put missing ingredients back into my scalp. Being of mixed heritage....Black, White, Hispanic, and American Indian; all the nations fighting for control. I have used White Clariol produces for years and was glad to see this product on the market. Prince's Sarah

Good for scars, although it takes a while to heal scars, but definitely good for the skin. She laughs when she sees the leaves in the store for sale, when all she had to do was go in the yard or anyone could walk down a road and seem them growing wild in the Caribbean. She also said, back in her day, elderly people (women) would use coconut water/oil to wash their hair, straight from the coconut, because they were afraid of catching colds by using running water straight from the faucet to wash their hair. My grandmother used to do that. Sounds kind of strange, but that's how it was back in the days in the Caribbean for some. Something the elders used to do. [Edited 4/7/09 22:19pm]
