The "Rumandraisin's playing ALL of P's albums in a row" thread! So, today i was kinda bored. Everyone in school has two weeks off in the uk at the mo becuase its easter. Anyway, i was on wikipedia reading about Pat Butcher (as you do) and i thought, "Hmm, maybe i'll listen to ALL of Princes albums starting from For You right up to LotusF"
As of 9:30pm, ive just finished Purple Rain. Its actually not an amazing album. I can never see why people prefere it to LoveSexy or Batman. So, i'll just say a few things about the other 5 i just listened to. For You is great, especially Im Yours and Baby (Which i never realised was sampled in Eye Hate U!!). Prince was even better, Sexy Dancer, Why U Wanna..., Bambi and Still Waiting being the standout tracks. Dirty Mind was great to hear after i havent played it in agesss. Head and Dirty Mind were my favs from the album, but Uptown is in my eyes the first classic P tune. Then came Controversy. What can i say?? Do Me Baby was amazing, i listen to the version from 1997 alot, you know from the Love4oneanother/JOTY tour where Mike Scott, Kat D and Mr Hayes solo's over the intro, so it was great hearing the PROPER version, in its full length. Likewise with Controversy, which i forgot was about 7 minutes! Lets Work has the best bassline out of the 6 albums so far, and i enjoyed Private Joy aswell. Its a track i rarely play so thats going straight on my ipod! 1999. Need i say more? Little Red Corvette is underated, i never really listen to the studio version, but it hit me how good it was!! DMSR is another, i only listen to the 2003/4 Musicology tour version, but its the bonbon record!!! Purple Rain was good, but no where near as good as 1999. Darling Nikki was good to hear, its just so Prince, if you had to explain P play that song! The title track still sounds good, its one of those timeless songs that never date like BILLIE JEAN or Bohemian Rhapsody. So, thats so far... Up next is AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY, which i havent played in years. Cant wait to hear songs like The Ladder and Temptation again! I'll post another review when im around Diamonds and Pearls. Im outa here..

unless he has something new out, or i've created a new playlist that i'm digging or working on, this is usually how I listen to Prince. in chronological order.

I work at home and usually have some tunes playing. The other week I decided to do just what you've done and go through the albums from the start. My no skipping rule nearly got broken during Jughead but I went to the toilet instead. RIP

It takes some balls to put that comment up here and expect to be taken seriously ever again As for your marathon, last time I did that was probably in 87, so good luck with it. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Then if you add in I Love U In Me and Dance With The Devil its even better.

So what album are you at now, and how is the evolution of Prince music going or did you simply give up If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

BIAS > Partyman Computer Blue >>>>> Lemon Crush The Beautiful Ones >>>>> Scandalous LGC The Future And if you wanna start with the B-sides, just remember what you're dealing with. .....
