Live Performances better than CD Guitar, Fury, Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful, Dreamer,Ol' and Skool Company!!! I have heard all these live Performances and they kick a** way better than on their cds i wish i could play these version with audio's for my car stereo ect..
It would have been a better album if these performances were on Lotusflow3r. Bria In her interview said they are raw yeah they are definately compared to how he plays it live. Its like he just wrote it and they played it for one of the 1st times probably hey... What Do other Fans think???? How About the Guitar Video on the Website taken from the Jay Leno Show. How good is that???? Are Members the only ones that will be able to see that besides the people that were there. I wish Prince would Share more of that type of stuff, Prince should be more recognised "KNOWN" for his guitar playing/ Where i live in my part of Australia from most people i know don't think of him as much of a musician... Does he want it?? I know he stays outta the spot light in a way but hes the worlds greatest to me id love for him to be seen as that over the other music and performances we are flooded with... 2 Live Performances in Australia Telivised Would Change Everything in my eyes. Show us here how it should be done If he something at the "Big Day Out" Boom, I see other artists performances and its amature, yet friends see it as magical" no what price has got is magical.

U know... everytime this subject arises, I feel the need 2 remind folks of the fact that it is ALWAYS Prince's intention 2 outdo an album version of a song, when performing it live. ALWAYS.
Remember the old quote from Jimmy Jam (on his days with The Time), where he said Prince was always telling The Time that it HAD 2 be better than the album? Peace. ~G "He's a musician's musician..."

Album versions of songs are static - they are forever locked into that sound (good or bad). A lot of them do suffer from the "one-man-band" syndrome where it literally sounds like Prince was by himself when he recorded them.
Live versions are organic and evolve over time. He can tweak a song, add to it, detract from it, etc. And it doesn't matter if it's not "quite" right live, because the next performance is only a few days away.

The one that struck me instantly being better than the studio version was "feel good,..." of the last 3 performances. Ol Skool and Dreamer didnt seem to hit it live as Prince usually does. However, I will say it is very rare for a studio version of a Prince song to be better than a live version. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Peace. ~G otherwise what's the point of seeing someone live? It's not enough to see a person recreate the exact thing you hear on the record. I think specifically the live versions aren't better, but they're more explosive & have more energy. The album versions are more perfect & have more layers & often more varied sonic palettes. The only 2 I can think of off-hand are When Doves Cry and Kiss. Those 2 never really translate well live.

If I recall, Prince did "Kiss" on the Arsenio Hall show back in '91 (?), and it was a very different arrangement than the album and I thought it worked really well live. As it is on the album, I agree, it doesn't translate well.
The first time I heard "Peach" was live in Worcester, MA (Memorial Auditorium) and it ROCKED. When I finally heard it on his "Hits" cd it blew chunks. I think P has a tendency to over produce many of his songs...Peach is a perfect example. It'd be VERY interesting to hear a song written and performed by Prince, but produced by someone else. It'll never happen, but it'd be interesting. Say "hi" to Mr. Bear

"If I was your girlfriend" - the live performance on SIGNoTIMES concert is classic. I wish he did a studio version like that. Although the album version is awesome 2.
