I am in charge of my church's intermediate school praise band. Since taking it over, I've moved our song selection from the Chris Tomlin/Michael W. Smith songbooks (not that there aren't some good songs there) into a more classic rock-based setlist. We usually do one song to open the Sunday Bible study session.

We've "praised up" the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'", Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild", Collective Soul's "Shine" and Duffy's "Mercy".

And Prince's "Guitar". We killed it!

Well tonight, we're gonna learn "One of Us". I'm gonna pair it with "Gimme Some Lovin'", which is another song we absolutely rock.

I just can't say enough about these kids. All 7th and 8th graders. They play all the instruments (except sometimes I have to fill in on bass when our bassist has a Boy Scout meeting).

I think we're going to do "For the Tears in Ur Eyes" this summer. But first, we have a real concert to play in one month.

The Jonas Brothers better look out!

I love this song and Prince did an excellent cover. You guys should also try to learn "The Cross" from SOTT.
