Were they? I think you meant released as singles or something like that, because all the songs were officially "released". I'm sorry, it's a lazy Sunday afternoon here so I bothered to question the content of your thread. I'm so pathetic, I know..

First of all i think u have to be careful with "BIG". What is a BIG chart hit?
Is it the number of singles that an artist have to sell to have a "hit"? How many do u have to sell? Maybe... So if u see it like that, songs like Kiss, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Batdance, Cream and TMBGITW are "big hits". So to say, i personally don´t see a song on any of these 3 albums that can be compared to the songs mentioned above to impact the worldwide charts under the top 3. That doesn´t mean that i don´t like the new songs, it´s just how i see it under the aspect how the mass ppl will rate these songs, so the most important thing is, how will the No-Prince-fans rate those songs and how many of them are willing to buy such songs. So considering those aspects i see it like this: MPLSound: Chocolate Box (this one is the No.1 song for a mainstream hit imo. It´s pretty accessible to the mass and Q-Tip gives the "dot on the i") Dance 4 Me (My personal fav. With a good video this song could have a good impact on the charts as well imo) Ol´Skool Company (maybe, also depends on the video shoot) Lotusflow3r: Crimson&Clover (it wouldn´t be the first cover an artist is successful with and the video is pretty colorful and fits good to the song imo) Colonized Mind (maybe, but vaguely) Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful (maybe, but vaguely) Elixer: none

I'm not sure I hear any big chart hits on the album.
And, that's a compliment.

You can try and make it as deep as you like, but each of the songs you've listed made the top 3 on the Hot 100. Anyway you look at it, that's a "big hit". Stop trying to be philisophical about something that's cut and dried. To answer the question posed by the OP: none of these songs are going to be hits. Prince is past that point is his career. Accept it.

I think theres a few especially on the MPLsound, with the right promotion could do really well. Although I must say I don't think the charts are as important as they use to be still it would be nice. most of Mplsound. Chocolate Box Dance 4 Me U're Gonna C Me Valentina Never B Another they would all be hot songs of the moment. They have the appeal for simplistic minds or chart lovers and can also please non chart lovers. Something he achieved in the 80s. Lotus wouldn't have too much success as its abstract and artistic. FB, FG, FW Dreamer (maybe) 4ever Crimson and Clover Elixer could have some for the RnB lovers Home Kept Woman Another Boy (infact i could see this setting the charts alight) All This Love Elixer (maybe) This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

i do not hear any hits on this album.
But if i was going to promote this it would be... "Dance 4 Me" for the kiddies and teenie boppers "Deamer" & "Colonized Mind" to young adults. college & alternative radio haven't got around to listen to Bria's album [Edited 4/5/09 7:54am]

NONE, the day for singles is over, the day for Prince being pushed like that is OVER! I knew it was a matter of time before we started talking "singles", and im sure next week when the album falls big time down the charts the threads will start that Prince is "neglecting" the record and not doing enough. i think the days of the single are over as well. I live in new york city and the radio station that plays all the 'current' hits is z100. I dont see any prince songs EVER being played on that station ever again. Video? Even with a video where will it be played in heavey rotation? What channel plays videos like that anymore? Unless he begins to act like Madonna, hell never have a hit single again. I believe in horns!

The thread is for a big CHART hit, Prince hasnt had a BIG Chart hit since "i hate U" peaked at Number 18 in 1995, that was his last time in the Top 40. We arent talking about what song can get played in a club, shit, if you know the DJ you can get anything played in a club. And "Musicology" did nothing, and Call My Name did OK on rb radio for a few months. Yeah thats mainly what im talking, Prince is never gonna get play from these Top 40 stations, in any market, despite if he has a number one album. Album numbers dont translate to radio play, the Acdc album sold millions and no station touched it, The Eagles sold 3 million got NO play for the most part, and we all remember the whole "clear channel" thing with Springsteen's "MAGIC" cd, they were boycotting it despite being number 1 and having straight forward pop/rock singles like "Girls in their summer clothes" which was his most commercial ready song in years, and won a grammy, but never got any play excpet on the "oldies" station, really OLDIES. I agree with u, but just to correct things, "Gold" was No.10 in the UK in late 1995 and "Betcha By Golly WoW!" was No.11 in the UK in late 1996, "The Good Life" was No.15 in the UK mid 1997 and "1999 The new Master" was No.10 in the UK in late 1998. Anyway just like "Eye Hate U", nothing really worth to talk about since TMBGITW early 1994.

I think this new set has the potential 2 b a big hit & have several hit singles.Just depends on how bored Prince gets with it. I think Prince naming his new site the same name proves he has big plans 4 this whole project. Too many songs on there 2 name as a hit. The Crimson & Clover video is hot. That has a big pop crossover appeal.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Well his US chart life is a done deal with singles, and has been done since 1995 with "I hate U" and before that TMBGITW when that hit the Top 3. The songs mentioned like GOLD that peaked around 90 here, the good life did nothing, the new master was not tracked as a single but as an EP and charted as an album, and Betcha By Golly Wow, was a very very modest radio single, barely, but then in America you could not chart on just Airplay, u had to have a physical single for sale, which he had none from that album. Had he, the experts say that "Betcha" would have charted somewhere in the 60-70 range, "Somebodys Somebody" would have been somehwere in the 30-40 range, The Holy River and Face Down would not have charted "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

About the club thing is not exactly true some DJ will play what u want but most don't and ppl are not gonna constantly be with the DJ and asking for it. successful club tunes do make a difference in the charts. Blacksweat was popular over here with the youngens and adults, I know many of non fans raving about it and Musicology both did chart over here and I saw both videos being played loads on music TV. Elixer:
Here Eye Come & Elixer for R&B ( R&B stations love slow ballads.) 2Nite for Pop,R&B,Hip-Hop ( This dance/club track is the most marketable song from the 3 CDs. You can't go wrong with a dance track.) MplsSound: Chocolate Box for Hip-Hop ( The only problem is that hip-hop stations won't play it because they cater to older artists.) LotusFlower: 4Ever for Pop ( This is a perfect pop song) I choose these songs based on the type of songs these stations tend to play, not because they're my favorites. Ironically, Bria's CD has the most chance for hit singles. Prince believes he is a musical prophet that has been chosen by Jehova to guide his fans to the "truth".
