How old is the track "$"

Does anyone have any insite of the track "$" from Lotusflower? I want to say that it is atleast a 20 year old track, possibly an outtake from Parade or Sign O the Times. I know he's been speeding up his voice again lately but the words and style of the song just don't sound like something he would have come up with lately. What do you think?

Why couldn't the song be a year old or even months old? I believe it is a new song, not a vault song.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Fantastic song. I do believe it's fairly recent though, if not brandnew.

It could be but it's just hard to believe these lyrics are new. It just sounds like something he would have written back in the 80's. Similiar to "Playing in the Sunshine" and others...

but the melody is actually reminiscent of Muse 2 the Pharoah--not an 80's song

I would say that even if the music is from 20 years ago, the lyrics are definately recent. Back in the 80's most people would not use the lines with "these rims, this grill" or "tryin' 2 B gangsta".

Ppl ppl ppl, not every song that comes out of Prince is an outtake. If he wrote a song like this before, why couldn't he do it again?

Beyond it having a sound reminiscent of the later Revolution-era, I don't think there's anything to say this track is older than a couple of years at the most.

I certainly hope it's brand spanking new, it has a spark of genius rarely seen these days.

ditto. The fact everybody's scrambling for the proper reference song and debating if it's actually an outtake to me just solidifies the fact that it. is. THE. jam of the album.

I really don't think this sounds like anything from the Parade/SOTT era.
