It was filmed at Paisley Park's soundstage and live performance audio was used for the songs, as Prince and crew re-enacted the concert experience (lip-synced). Originally released at theaters in the US, it's high on most fan's must-have DVDs list. Only get the version sold on Amazon.ca. Other versions out there are awful. The Canadian release has 5.1 Surround, Widescreen and crystal clear video and sound. Also, the singing and sounds from the concertgoers were not the concert people that you saw in the film. It was actually about 100 extras at Warner Bros Studio in Hollywood that made the sounds. Prince wanted the concertgoers to have more of an interaction with him. For example, When Prince would finish a song and say "thank you"...the crowd would say "no thank you!" The film was already completed, we watched the film on a large screen in black and white. Cat had a portable tape player, that played Prince's voice instructing us what to do. He was at the studio, but never came out. Prince originally wanted the concertgoers to sing every song from the movie. Cat passed out lyrics to all of us. We learned and sang every song! The only song that appeared on the film was "Forever in my life". It took us 3 days to complete. That was the greatest Prince experience in my life!!!!! [Edited 4/3/09 21:16pm] WOW! That is a cool story, and first-hand no-less. I had never heard this. The boombox thing is funny - soooo Prince. Thanks for sharing. I would have loved to have been there too. That would have been great if Prince used "real fans". When I first arrived, the vibe that I got from the other extras was that they werent Prince fans. They were actually talking major crap and act like they didnt want to be there. That was until they really saw how truly talented Prince really is!!! I'm going to start a thread on my experience soon!

I really don't understand... Sheena Easton went to Paris to film her part in the movie because thats where Prince was performing at the time.

I have 3 copies of it 1 that is distributed by a company called "Network" and is a pain to watch because the picture is terrible, this release is claiming to be Digitally Remastered. This is really only for completists. The copy I have from the The Sunday Gaurdian is by far superior quality. I also have the Canadian version (thanks Emm ) but I have never been able to watch it. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

That's the Brazilian version that was sold at Best Buy (I have it too). It has the wrong artwork on the cover, etc. Do yourself a huge solid and get the Canadian DVD... you won't be sorry. Sounds good, thanks for the advice. I'd love for a Blu Ray version to come out though.

Actually "U Got the Look" was ALREADY a video and Prince then inserted the music video into his movie.

The show itself is clearly awesome but the source audio isn't live. That its a lip sync from separate concerts means it loses a lot IMO. A real shame.

because adore wasn't per4med on this tour at all man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Due this thread I just got my Canadian copy of the DVD. Very good presentation. Maybe some day a blu? But still very good. Already on my second viewing; I saw this on opening night in Minneapolis BTW.
Well, there's no reason everyone who wants a copy of this shouldn't own it; I searched and found the absolute best deal on this through inetvideo.com. There based in NY but sell lots of Canadian goods; including shipping to CA it was only $12.94. On Amazon.com the cheapest copy I saw was $45.00! I saw it also on Ebay for $15 plus shipping but who wants to fuck around with that when you can simply pick one up for cheap. Go buy it if ya wantz it.
