Im not into rap. But i love Q-tip one of the best rappers to ever rap. He adds something to the song that without it, it would be boring

Ding, Ding, Ding! I like the instrumental version dubbed "Disco Jellyfish". This "chocolate box, rockin' sox" whatever for me is along the lines of Jughead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"CHOCOLATE BOX" is a hot ass song. the beat is contagious and I love the chorus and I love the atitude Prince has in it. It's a GREAT song! But I agree about Q-Tip. He didnt have to be on the song, his part is irrelevant. Otherwise "CHOCHOLATE BOX" is a classic SMASH Prince joint. Live with it!! &

[Edited 4/3/09 9:22am] Really? You must've not heard any of TC Ellis or Tony M's raps "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

[Edited 4/3/09 9:22am] Really? You must've not heard any of TC Ellis or Tony M's raps HELLO! In retrospect, that was a hot mess right there. Give me a Q-Tip everyday of the week over them fools, in more ways than one too. [Edited 4/3/09 12:06pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. What really gets me is the Brittney Spears/ Gwen Stefani vibe I get from the song at certain points. The panting reminds me of " I'm A Slave 4 U" and the spelling lesson reminds me of
" Hollaback Girl". B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Still a cool song though. Both tracks done by the biggest Prince's FAN on the planet Pharrell Williams Any of you old orgers know who this cat is ..... So who's copying who.....please...stick with your "purple rain" CD and stay in the 80's..... Just to clarify, I didn't accuse Prince of copying anybody. I just meant that there are certain parts of "Chocolate Box" that remind ME of parts of those other two songs. It happens! With all the tunes prince has put out over the years, don't tell me that there were not times that Prince did something in a song that reminded you of other song or artist even if that artist was probably influenced by Prince. You don't have to defend Prince to me. Trust me on that. Peace CALL ME A DREAMER 2!

I'd rather Prince left the genre alone, but to write it off in the way that the two of you have is pretty sad. You sound like parents in the 50s, damning Rock and Roll as noise. Im a big fan of Q-tip. His new album was the best rap album of last year and Tribe is one of the best rap group's ever.
His rap fit the song well. I'd much rather see him than Kanye or Lil Wayne on a track with Prince, even if the latter 2 would help it sell more.

Is the issue that the song is dragged down by Q-Tips rap and if his rap is the issue, could it be that he had little to work with in the first place? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Have you heard anything so gay? GAY IS the Best way!! Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I know, and I regret it. But I grew up on real rock and real funk in the '70's, and since about 1993, music in almost all genres has taken leaps backwards. Believe me, I wish this wasn't so, but it is. If all you know is the rap, rock and hip-hop of the last 15 years, then you'll see it differently from me. But if you've been around, you know what I'm talking about. Look at this as a challenge - if you're a musician or a fan under 30, DEMAND more from your generation. You like Chocolate Box, yet say the lyrics on There'll Never Be Another are terrible. I just don't get that. I like the track and also Q's rap, but the lyrics? Surely they are the worst on the album? I got a box of chocolate that'll rock the socks of any girl that wanna come my way. What in Never Be Another is worse than that? It's ridiculous. I'm just thankful it has a head bobbing beat.
By the way, am I the only one that had never heard of Q Tip before this collaboration? RIP

As a Prince fan since Dirty Mind I am depressed too often by people of "my generation" acting like this. To those over 30 and out of touch with the music that the kids of today listen to - perhaps its not music that peaked in your teens/early 20s. You might miss the feeling U got from music back in the day, but that does not mean that you should be too bold like your father.
