Why do you think the USA (probably white) population's ideas about acceptability are favoured elsewhere under all circumstances? Situations can differ and the use of certain words can be less unacceptable or even more acceptable in these situations. I did not say that these situations are very common or should be that way. i know, i'm just taking the piss. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Prince is a whack job!
He needs to understand that he isn't in control all the time. If Target wants the commercial taken down than so be it but shorty signed a contract and if Target wants to play a commercial on youtube there's nothing stopping them. Not even the worlds biggest ego maniac.

What a fucking gooddamn idiot THIS is how out of control Prince is. FREE ADVERTISING to sell his product is a threat to his ego. He's fucking sick in the head and I'm thrilled I haven't put one fucking penny in his pocket with this Lotus project. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I dunno about anyone else but I don;t really care how successful he uis as long as he keeps making music. Why are people suprised? Why wouldn't he want the commercial to be removed when he doesn't want the other stuff to be there? Even music videos are advertisements. So it would only be odd if he let them have the commercial. It's obviously all about control and principles for P.
But I haven't seen a good source varifying the topic of this thread. And it doesn't always necessarily have to be Prince personally who demands these things. Couldn't it have been Target who didn't want it to be there?

Exactly. It would be hypocritical of him if he allowed the commercial to play on youtube, while at the same time, has made it clear that he doesn't want his songs/vids on there.

Wow... a five page bitch fest over a 30 second commercial clip.
Since Prince obviously has issues with You Tube... why would any one be shocked that he doesn't want hie likeness on there period... even if it indirectly benefits him. Where I come from... if you talk down on something... only to turn around and use it 'only' if its benefits you... you're called a hypocrite. I'm pretty sure that these same people bitching about him wanting the commercial removed from You Tube would do exactly that... call him a friggin' hypocrite if he did allow it to stay up and they knew about it. But most important about copyrights and the like... you have to exercise them all of the time or run the risk of losing the power behind those rights. If he allowed you tube to play some things which were illegally uploaded (i.e. vids they didn't own the rights or have permission to upload to in the first place)... people would have a case in other instances of uploaded material. Another factor to consider is that Target more likely than not has exclusive rights to promote and sale Lotusflow3r. Prince is likely contracted to uphold those rights. Allowing the commercial to play on You tube could very easily compromise those rights. Every organization does not view You Tube as free advertising. Many view You Tube as opportunistic as they get money from their hits. I'm pretty sure neither target nor Prince is in the market of making money for You Tube.
