1. Perhaps one should read, in their entirety, the articles they post instead of creaming their pants at the opportunity to post anything negative about him.

Why is reporting about Prince taking down illegal copies of his works a negative thing?

*WE* think it is stupid in this case.
Strictly speaking about (C) he, mr Prince, does have a case.
E.g. He needs to enforce his rights to be taken seriously.

The commercial on You TUbe is not going to sell that many more albums. It would be like everything else on You TUbe: free entertainment for people looking to download something for nothing. THat commercial serves its purpose on TV where the demographic is far larger and varied.

well at leat he's consistent. no video's, so that includes commercials.

if he would allow the commercial to stay some of y'all would be just as
mad at him.

is it silly? sure it is. but hey, at least now we can watch the videos
on his site in "HIGH QUALITY" which, after watching them, i guess is a
sort of prince slang for "ripped from an old fanmade 'mtv prince weekend'
compilation VHS tape".

falloff

It's not, but linking to a source that doesn't call Prince the 'n' word in the article would have been more appropriate.

It's someone else's speech.
N-words may have a slightly different meaning depending on location/upbringing/use/context/etc.
So I'd not be upset too soon about this now.

Sad imo.

I will never understand Prince's decissions when it comes to YouTube, (in this case free advertising), fansites etc.

His desire to CONTROLE everything is sooo annoying, I guess Prince still have a Web Sheriff on his payrole, to controle the internet.... ? confused

and it seems like he is fighting his own fans... the closing of HOUSEQUAKE.COM is proof of that,

sad, this is just imo... sad

Well it's not like it's not being shown on regular and cable tv during prime time (at least here in the US).

I'm trying to figure out why anyone would specifically log on to Youtube to see a commercial they can see on the tv every 45 minutes or so.

if prince was truly an intelligent person, he would have found a way to utilize youtube for his own financial and commercial gain. rather than sue everyone into oblivion or make his overworked lawyer file more papers, why not require the site to include a link to prince's current website? then everything on the site operates as an advertisement for his site. or, i don't know, think of something else that manipulates the media in his own benefit.

Whether youtube is pennies or alotta $$$ is irrelevant to Prince.
I'm not gonna try to quote wat he said concernin that issue cause I don't want to misquote.
Will Prince drop standards he holds for himself jus to be "#1 at the bank"? This shows that he won't.
When the money's gone u still got your standards u stand on, which are worth more than $$$ any day.
I doubt this would cause much loss to his income anyway.
Prince been makin $$$ wayyyyy b4 youtube came into existence.

You guys have this all wrong right here.

Prince would be a hyprocrit if he DIDN'T remove the Target commercial at this point.

He is actually keeping his integrity moreso by removing a commercial from YouTube which could potentially benefit him financially.

He is totally keeping his integrity with this and I give him mad respect for it.

And he is actually defending the integrity of future artists' copyRIGHTS by exercising his own rights.

Mad props for following his heart and not giving in to the peer pressure of all the people who want to infringe on his copyrights just in the name of getting something for free.

On the surface, removing a commercial which is shown for free on television seems like an silly thing to do, but Prince's issue with YouTube has been going on a long while now and he's made it abundantly clear he doesn't want his image, music, etc available there. If he let this commercial stay up, he would look like a huge hypocrite (as someone earlier already stated) and it also might potentially mess up future legal wrangles with YT because it would weaken his argument against the site in principle.

So alhough it seems to make no sense to demand removal of a commercial, Prince is just staying consistent in his stance against YouTube. He kind of has to do this.
