U're Gonna C Me is lazy but cool

It is a bit weak that Prince just rehahsed a past released song to put on the new album,

I actually like this new version (though it goes on too long)...I def prefer the original, but this one is nice...just sad that he didn't release a good ballad from the Vault that we hadn't heard het...or at least Moonbeam Levels or I Wonder or something that hasn't been officially released.

I was anxious to here what he would do with this track. I was pleasantly Surprised.. that may even be an understatment. It's beautiful. 'Crucial' standards.. Yeah i said it! A very interesting release. Some things i love, somethings i dislike but at least its interesting.

I think this new version is very nice. The chorus works better for me
this time around.

I like the new version better.

Of course, how do we know this track isn't based on an original studio recording that predates ONA?

indeed. Something which i also thought. I'm inclined to think that the studio version came before the piano version.

ONA piano was a demo and many Prince fans don´t have this song on CD or at all.

i swear this is the most beautifulest song ever. can't stop listening to it music. WAY better than before, imo. just pretty and simple. so good touched. i'm kinda liking here now also, but it was bad idea putting the two together. two ballads in a row no no no! giggle

I also think this new version is surprisingly cool. I say surprisingly because I have not always liked Prince's reworked versions of previously released songs. I prefer Dark to So Dark, and prefer The Dance (TCI version) to The Dance (3121 version). I loved the piano melody and vocals on Ur Gonna C Me (ONA version) but this new one with synthy strings is charming and sounds just lovely and lush.

With the speed of what's been going on this week I've not properly digested everything released so far but this new version of Ur Gonna C Me jumped out at me and felt just right somehow. smile
Just somewhere in the middle,

not quite sure why he can't make a good arrangement for his own tracks.. He had strings on Bria disk.. why can't he axe the violin keyboard and put some real one in? makes a huge difference.

I'm glad he gave this one a new spin. One of the highlights from the One Nite Alone... and one of the few charming and catchy (if a little dated) hooks he's come up with in long while

I love this version

I perfectly fits between Dance 4 Me & Here
I think it's much better than the ONEnight
and I think it has a feel of When 2 R In Love

My 2nd favorite on that album next 2 Dance 4 Me (CAMILLE!!!!!)

the piano chords and partial improv is what makes the piano version a better song. This one is just flat out R&B junk..

this song makes me a little bit emotional.

not necessarily because of this version, but because of the original. or not even. but hearing the new version multiple times on a daily basis sure takes me back to when the original came out.

le sigh.

I never liked One Nite Alone much at all, but this rerecord is stellar in comparison. The same idea goes for "The Dance". The 3121 version is far superior to the one from NPGMC days.

I was fully prepared to hate this - because I love the ONA version. But I ain't gonna lie - I really like the new one.

Of course, it could just be that it's a really pretty song - he would've had to work hard to eff it up.

I highly recommend it. He plays some interesting chords on the piano and it sounds as if it is partly improv.. makes this one sound like a lame attempt to get on the radio.. i can't think of any other reason he did it.. it is horribly bad when compared to the original

Whole heartedly disagree. I appreciate the ONA version, too. I love the MPLSound cut aswell. The chorus is stunning. Beautifully produced. I was expecting another travesty like 'so dark'. I was wrong.. as are you wink lol

Perspective is being wrong?.. it's my opinion. If you enjoy that kindof music. then by all means.. have at it. I refuse to listen to downgraded material. oh how the "newness" gets us every time.

lazy, true. It's a nice little song but that chorus is about as lazy as it gets.
