Prince needs a Male Protege

How many on here think it is time for Prince to work with a male protege again? I think it would be a great thang for him to do since the females aren't working out so well. Plus I think it would be a safe place for him being that he claims to be a JW. What do ya'll think?

I think Bria is more than enough Protege to keep him busy...he's 51 this year ...he needs to take his time with the females....one at a time... lol

I think Prince should work with a guy talent for once. No harm would come from it think about The Time and other guys that he has worked with I think it would be funkay.

i would like 2 c a male protege so that hopefully a great singer can come 4th and show these fools like akon, chris brown how 2 really sing nod
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Now you know that is not gonna happen...they will only slag the artist of like they are doing with Bria's CD....

Let the man have his fun with Bria and her music career or what's to become of it.... biggrin

LOL
stop it

with all this protege talk I've been checking out Mazarati's album long versions and b side

Pretty good stuff

I really like I Guess It's All Over

He should pull them back and give it the chance they didn't have or one of them
They'll be younger than Prince but not too young for the rumors

I wouldn't mind that. It would be different, even though he's had one or two before. I'm down with that.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

He's too insecure with guys especially his peers unless he's known them since childhood.

It would have been nice to see Prince, TTD and Lenny really collaborate. Still could happen. Put Shiela on the drums and that could be some supergroup.

What would he need a male protege for? Any songs that are written from a male perspective, he can sing himself. shrug

Not always. The song may be a better fit for some other artist (like The Time's material).

I disagree. Unless he goes back to writing explicitly nasty stuff (which is highly unlikely), he doesn't really have an "image" issue anymore.

Great idea, especially since there are a few that I think would carry the torch (Maxwell, Cee-Lo, Andre 3000, etc) well. But there's one problem with that idea. Men don't have vaginas..

Well, I'm not a songwriter, but I've read many interviews from different writers and they all say the same thing. When you're writing a song, it may not be the perfect fit for you to sing, but maybe perfect for someone else.

Prince has written so many songs that other men have recorded (Howard Hewitt, El Debarge, Tevin, etc.). Prince may not have felt that a song like "Halls of Desire" fit him, but was great for Tevin.

I've also heard Babyface and Stevie Wonder say the same thing. So, it's not necessarily about a point of view, it's about the song itself and its presentation/personality.
