I've been diggin this tune for a good 3 weeks may times on repeat....

HOW DESPERATE AM EYE?
EYE WONDER IF U R WHAT KEEPS ME ALIVE
ALONE EYE CAN’T GET AS HIGH
EVEN THO EYE’VE TRIED
IT’S DIFFERENT WHEN U’RE GROWN
THE WINE DON’T TASTE THE SAME
WHEN U’RE ALONE
THE SIZE OF THE BED NOW SEEMS LIKE
THE BIGGEST THAT EYE’VE EVER KNOWN

Love that verse!
Give what U can, all U can stand, and all of your life will be made!

That is TRULY one of most beautifully heart wrenching songs he's ever done, and I go WAY back.

One of the few that really chokes me up. I guess I can relate 2 it, but also, the song is well written and executed. The music is beautiful.

The execution is my greatest torment.
its too precise..... gets me all jittery,
like he's playing black widow momma
Makes me ask the question - who's gonna lose their head this time?

as for heart wrenching and choked up
cant say i got any Barbara Streisand moments from that song...

I hear sleeping bags can be very cosy. lol

I love this song too, but for the life of me I can't figure out what song the acoustic guitar reminds me of. It sounds/feels very familiar. Help, anyone?

Prince should just drop all the funk and rock and just make a good old fashing pop / easy listening album.

He's made some really good easy listening pop songs in recent years-- I love Reflections and All The Midnights in the World. Here is definitely another good one!

What you said. This is a surprising favorite of mine from the CD. And I also adore "All the Midnights in the World" from PE. I think these songs are so deceiving at first. And then you start catching the amazing harmonic dynamics going on.

I listen to this song the most. I love the linn drum effects and when I hear people say he tried to bring back that old sound but wasn't successful in making it sound right I fully disagree mainly because of this song. I really love the parts of this song when the synthesizers sound like they are playing backwards if you know what I mean. Those are the parts that make me get the most attached to this particular song. I wonder how much time he spent making this song cuz to me it will be a classic!

I have been thinking this for some time as well. Fantastic song; arrangement and production.

IMO this is classic Prince; in the sense that he is unique with his production and arrangement. The clipped, backwards hook works fantastically and adds further dimension.

Here encapsulates the very essence of why I became a fan in the first place all those yrs ago.

For those who disagree that any of this album has that mpls sound updated - here it is rgight there, to my ears at any rate.

Ok it's a nice song... but far from its best ! Reminds me of "space" somehow. Nice words, sweet, soft, cool... not too hot nor too cold... a good average love song ?

It's an OK ballad, but not my fave track on MPLSound. eye prefer: "Never B Another Like Me", "Chocolate Box", "Dance 4 Me", "Valentina" & "Ol' Skool Company" from that CD. music

Its his breakup song. I love you but I'll be with you in the afterworld in the forever, right now you're not worth marrying.

Also in the vein, I love U but Eye dont trust U anymore, Damn U etc.

Backhanded love songs from a commitment phobe. lol

Dude's been married TWICE. commitment phobia is not what i get from the song. and since when did such "vulnerability" and honesty in music become a BAD thing?! Would u rather he'd LIE and not express his true feelings at that point in time? i don't get it. the beauty of it is his ability to make GOOD music from whatever space he's in.

I really like "here" too...but the first time I heard it I thought it sounded like that instrumental interlude between scenes in the movie, "Under the Cherry Moon", anyone know what I'm talkin' about?

nod That would be "Alexia de Paris." I made the exact same connection on first listen. highfive

"Here" is a wonderful song. touched
