Donnie Simpson - on WPGC here in DC

Will play some Prince. He is a huge fan. He played 3121 two days in a row (the entire album) when it was 1st released on his morning show! People were calling and loving it (to my surprise)

He played FBM and SHOE (like there is anything else to play from that thing) cool

This morning (Tuesday) at 7:30 on comes Raspberry Beret and then Diamonds & Pearls.... Donnie breaks in talks about Prince giving his guitar away on Leno (in which his side kick seemed completely uninterested in I might add) and then moved on

Minutes before he played Rasp B.... the Target commercial came on with Dreamer and Ch Box blasting. I was shocked he didn't play Ol' Skool Company or Dance 4 Me

Let me tell you something I know it must be killing him not to play these songs.... but if dude can't play them no one can

Its too bad... because since last Tuesday I have been listening to the best Prince 20 years.

Lotus Flow3r is an awesome record and IMO has clearly distanced itself from Mpl Sound (which is also good)

Hell yeah. Donnie's been a huge Prince fan since his days on BET Video Soul (the GOOD days of BET).

DC has always been a loyal Prince market. Donnie especially, but also WHUR... they'd put B-sides in regular rotation from Erotic City, She's Always in My Hair... I even remember visitng DC and hearing HUR play "Wasted Kisses" on the regular when Newpower Soul came out.

Has anyone heard any on the songs on DC radio? I don't listen to the radio except when there is a new release because I like to here the reaction to his new music which is normally very positive in DC. The response to both Musicology and 3121 like I mentioned was very positive. I have been checking in on Donnie's show for about a week on the drive in from work and nothing...

Maybe like you, I remember Call My Name being one of the biggest songs on DC radio when it came out - and I'm talking about all four Urban/Urban AC stations playing it regularly. In fact, WPGC actually used it in one of their commercial promos. However, as far as the current stuff, I haven't heard anything. Of course, nothing has officially been released as a single yet.
