There are credits? (in the cd case?)

Where are the credits
I'm just saying we don't know, L & W sang and played on some other songs on Planet Earth they weren't credited 4

Try reading my post. The credits are on the site, not in the CD.

What makes you thnik W&L are on tracks on Planet Earth that they aren't credited for? I've seen you make similar incorrect assertions around here without backing up your claims. Care to provide a source this time?

I'm not the only one, who commented on W&L doing more on Planet Earth

The voices are distinct
And Prince has always been known to miss someone when it comes to credits

And please don't even try going there (attacking me is uncalled for) You've made very baseless comments yourself kid.
When you provide links to me making incorrect assertions, I'll provide sources, which I usually do

Put the idea of Prince's old bands in the perspective of an old girlfriend.....
The idea of going back is always tempting but its better to move forward than to get stuck in the same pit.

not the same (always)

All previous girlfriends were not bad relationships
Always depends on why they broke up or moved on

didn't I read somewhere that Prince basically emailed her the track and said "can you put guitar on this?". meaning it was probably less of a collaboration than you would think,,,

isn't basically the only reason this never happened sooner is that for years prince wouldn't directly ask them to collaborate? like how he made that song on 'emancipation' but never actually, you know, called them?

at least he's asking them now.

soon, if we're lucky, maybe he'll even offer to pay them for their work. wink

I think this ship has sailed, and I don't really think that's particularly a bad thing.

I'd like to see what P, W&L could do in the studio - like actually working in the studio, on new music, together, not just mailing tapes or emailing files to add sprinkles and overdubs to. But other than shrug

If U think about it pre Purple Rain(PR being some of his all time best music anyway) but the 1999 band was the noituloveR (Wendy was already collaborating with him) and sang on Free & Irrisistable Bitch
the Controversy band is the same (Dez being the only difference during the 2 albums)

That's not much of an answer. Your suppositions are NOT facts. I'm aware that people think they can hear W&L on certain Planet Earth tracks, but to my ears, it's not them.

You're right that Prince has left people out over the years, but I sincerely doubt he'd omit W&L at this juncture, given how the fans wet their pants at the mere idea of them working together again. He's not stupid.

So again, I ask: where's your source? This isn't a personal attack, its a desire to not see misinformation spread throughout the .org. This place is terrible for folks seeing something once and taking it as Gospel.

You want an example? I don't know how to link directly to your post, but within this thread:

http://prince.org/msg/7/298696

You provide a list of songs that you claim Prince recorded with the Lovesexy band. And you're wrong about a number of them.
[Edited 4/2/09 11:23am]

Edit: And what baseless claims have I made?

I thought it was a little sad that he namechecks his drummers in 'Ol Skool Company, and leaves out Bobby (his longest serving?).

Going on the results from Planet Earth - I don't think it'd be that special.

actually it's all relevant if u look at his drummers and how fans react 2 certain drummers:

sheila gets mad props
john blackwell
michael b
jellybean

he didn't mention 3 drummers he has had in his bands and 4 obvious reasons

cora - very bland
kirky j ..gee i wonder y

and bobby z ..cause bobby was good at doing triggers..but not someone that would blow ur socks off if u heard a drum solo by him

which then leads 2 the topic of this thread..the last time prince hooked up with wendy and lisa we got the crappy ass planet earth...

prince hooks up with sonny t and michael b and look at all the ravs lotusflow3r is getting compared 2 planet earth...

nuff said..as nostalgic as u would like things 2 b, prince has had more stronger and musically better musicians in his band since the revolution
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

IMO the Revolution was OVERRATED anyway.

Outside of 1999 and Purple Rain they had two ok albums. I know to some that's outrageous. The better band and music came out of the SOTT/Lovesexy bands.

Try doing a thing called a search neutral

You can use the words or phrase revolution reunion or Prince and the Revolution reunion. And yes this topic is beatdeadhorse rolleyes

For those who are wondering of W&L involvment on the PE album they do discuss this on www.wendyandlisa.com in the forums.

Another I never reported this topic just stating an opinion so relax neutral

Man, I wish these less informed fans would get over the Revolution and the nostalgia tip. IT is only because they are in the movie and that image is more lasting. If not for Purple Rain, they would have jsut been an old lineup for former Prince sidemen. Ther eis nothing special about them relative to the more recent bands Prince has used. THe Musicology NPG was one of the best - if not THE best he ever had. At any rate, they crush the post-Dez Dickerson version of the Revolution.

Wendy and Lisa are so grossly overrated that it is comical now. FOr years, people were crediting them with writing the song, Purple Rain! Ridiculous. I am so sick of it.

I respect and love the work that they did with P, but I am one of those rare fans that love his current work as much as I love the work of the 80s when I was in high school and college. Of course the thread is would they return and not do I wish they would return, so, I'll shut up now.

Taking the Revolution out the Prince formula was like taking butter and sugar out of a cookie recipe.

It's obvious that Prince alone can't make a great record. It's been proven. Look at the last 20 years.

Sadly, Prince's ego is too big to admit something like that.

The Revolution will always be the greatest backing band this earth has ever known!

I think Prince takes lessons from those legaends that he admires: Hendrix, James Brown, Santana, SLy, George CLinton, Joni Mitchell, etc. FromMiles Davis, I think he is adopting a practice of trying to keep changing and not get old. Miles used different bands and genres from the 40s to the 90s. He surrounded himself with great msuicians for the particular era that he was in and did what he was doing at that time - and then moved on to the next thing. As such, he is responsible for many of the innovations of jazz. He stayed relevant for 50 years doing this. He never looked back - even though he took a lot of heat when he did something like Bitches Brew and his core audience wanted straight ahead acoustic jazz from the 50s and 60s.

Prince doesnt look back much so far either. He keeps new adn fresh talent around him - acutally changing his bands more frequently than Miles did. Digging up the Purple Rain Revolution was be a step backwards. Why would he do it? He doesnt want to become a cliche who has to do Lets Go Crazy for the rest of his life every time he appaears in public. He had Wendy and Lisa play the Brit Awards a few years ago - thats enough. He doesnt need to be doing a full reunion gig. Then he would become one of those old bands, like Kajagoogoo, that VH1 was running after on that Reunited show.

I always want to see teh Prince that defies time and manages to stay ahead of it. I want to see the 50 year old PRince who looks and sounds better than the 25 year old Prince. He cant keep doing that surrounded by aging, overweight ex backup players.

I feel like you haven't' been paying attention at all. What is Mplsound if not an exercise in looking back? And I think its safe to say that Prince plays Let's Go Crazy (and Purple Rain, and a whole bunch of stuff from the Revolution era) more often than he doesn't.
