A convo on Saturday between my cuz (a bass player) and I went a lil something like this:
Him: "Who guitar and half face dat for?" Me: "my phone wallpaper?" H: "yea" M: "Prince" H: "which Prince?" M: "Purple rain Prince" H: "who? squiggly?" (laughter between both of us) "he didn't change his name to some squiggly shape or someting?" M: "yea but he changed it back to his birth name in 2000 or somewhere thereabout" H: "he STILL singin?!" M: "yea! eva seen the rock and roll music hall of fame 'while my guitar gently weeps' performance?" H: "nah but I saw the superbowl halftime show performance. He's really good but Prince too weird...he jus too too weird (shakes his head wit a confused ponderin expression). M: "well he's my fav musician and artist and I think I'll have to show u a couple clips". And just as I was gonna show him the RRHOF clip that I've saved on my phone (among many others) somebody came and whisked him away I'll be comin back and tellin y'all he's fully converted...bet yo bottom $ on it. He gon stop sayin "squiggly" I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

Sometimes it might just be the vibes fans give off when trying to explain the whole scenario. I had a cable guy come to the home last week and he saw the pictures and posters even went as far as to read the Superbowl poster. I began listening to MPLS and he sheepishly noted I must be a fan. He asked questions and I answered them as if we were talking about the weather. He left educated on the name-to-symbol-name. We shared music views and favs other than Prince. Like I said there was no arrogance or haughtness or trying to convert. Prince's Sarah
