Me too. Granted I've only listened to it once. But I usually know if I like a song or not at least half way through. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

see ya in an hour or so. okay....i'll finally support this claim.... 1.) this groove as that "hop around like a pony" energy that makes prince "prince" (to me). its jazzy, classic, punkish...the strings work wonderfully, and prince sounds like he's smiling the whole time he's singing these. 2.) its camille in perfect form (again to me). 3.) the lyrics address fame, success, and the current music scene- with an elder prince who sounds less like a proud old fart (which he gets close to these days) and more like the wise teacher he is and still can be and 4.) it shows prince's mastery of complex ideas delivered with deceptive simplicity it just does it for me. it sounds more like a discovery than a memory to me (many songs on this set do...which is why i like these albums so much)

Not a fan of $, but an observation:
The low rhythm guitar & drum pattern DOES sound a lot like the rhythm in Sexuality (1981). Neat.

Yeah I looooove $! I was thinking that it's like $ succeeds where Courtin Time fails. Big Time! "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

I like $ well enough but considering his ability to craft perfect pop songs, meh he's done it before and I don't consider it a genius moment. . [Edited 3/31/09 17:53pm] You're such a negative nancy about these new albums! sometimes it is warranted

Musically it's good and easily in the top 5 on that album...
Lyrically it's so bad! All the slang he throw's around... "this car, these rims, this grill you'll be the illest on the scene!" "whateva, whateva..." and why is it that the whole time he's singing all I can see is him singin' about this little guy... Dreamer is still the number one song on Lotusflower. A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

that's sort of how i'm taking it. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die
