One of my favorite songs, if not THE best song on TRC.
Lyrically and musically...especially live.
Was slightly different during the European leg of the
tour...( short,added "Jefferson" line..."YES, I OWNED
SLAVES TOO !!")
Brilliant, futuristic song...maybe some find it offensive
but I like it much more than Avalanche, which also deals
with the topic slavery...
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Love it. Love it. Love it!

Especially the "Teacher, teacher" verse. Being Native American myself, I love the way he flips the script in that verse. "Or did I arrive before you and ruin Thanksgiving Day?" This song also showcases his falsetto better than any in recent memory - it's tight as hell.

What I love about this song is the way Prince closes the record out with Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech.

I lot of folks get pissed off at this song and it's message .If you happen to be one of those pissed off people, listen to the end of the song & the words of Dr. King.

In the last 3 songs of TRC,Prince exposes the problem.(The centuries of lying & propaganda)
Then offers a solution.(The Everlasting Now.)
Lastly gives you a little extra to think about. (Is this my Last December?)

Deep !

p.s. And the song is funkier than James Brown's draws.

I love this song, i did wish however that the spoken intro would be a seperate track, that way i don't have 2 listen 2 it everytime when i want 2 hear this song. I really loved the live renditions of this song smile

I think that this intro (eve if it is along one) is a real part of the song... So I do agree with it being part of the song and on the same track number...

Love it. It seems quite a few people have spoken their mind on not liking it and the message behind the song. joelmarable, I don't know where you get the country feel (that's your opinion, cool), but I get a pure funk feel with it. The use of the overdriven bass makes me do the stanky-funk-face! Slick. The live versions I've heard definitely do the song justice too.
