How the hell should I know? It isn't like I'm going to ask them how many they got and how many they have left... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

i went to the nearest target to me in el dorado hills, california, and there was a display, but it was empty! so my husband went to the electronics desk and asked for it, and they had it behind the desk. don't know why they were hiding it? but there were also 3 people behind my husband waiting to buy it too.
later in the day we went to another target in folsom, california and they had a display and all kinds of ads up near the front registers, the display was full and it looked like maybe only 1 had sold?

We also need to take into account that if we see the Lotusflow3r display full of CD's, it might mean that they had to restock the display. We can't be quick to think it isn't selling because the display is full, especially now since it's Wednesday. Just some FYI for you. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Up Front at cashier lane....not much moved. I go each morning for my Starbucks.
Good thing is there will be no BS sales figures, Target runs a tight inventory and sales figures are spot on. Music is the best...

My daughter works at target she said they had them in two places upstairs and downstairs. All the ones downstairs had sold out and people had to come upstairs to get them. I don't know how many they had to begin with so.. Thats the target in cleveland heights. I don't know about the other ones.

I saw a commercial for the cd on tv the other day

There were plenty at the Target I went to, but the albums took up an entire 4 shelf display unit, and the CDs weren't properly faced. Meaning, on one shelf you might have stacks of 2 to 5 and on another, just 1 deep. This of course means, they're either selling or people are at least curious enough to fondle them and misplace them back on the shelves.

Could be. When I got mine. I went to the record/dvd section to find it and the shelf there was half empty. But they had a bigger display right at the check out that was mostly full. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I know people will go nuts about hearing his popularity is down in NYC, but sorry, it is. And ive been going to all the gigs here in NYC, never missed one, and he really has isolated himself to places like LA and Vegas, which is alright if your Manilow or Celine or Elton with a huge fan base, but Prince has a very different following and its been greatly reduced. I went to a Target in Brooklyn and it was selling. There was a part of the section that didn't have any Lotusflow3r CD's. I think you're exaggerating a bit on that. No when i grabbed it it was so packed that the plastic was ripping off the front because it was so tight to the rack. So i went to grab another and all the rows were tight, if 10-20 sold before that, that would be saying alot, but hey, its brooklyn, Prince is not a big thing, especially on Flatbush Avenue. I agree. I live in Brooklyn not too far from a Target and the album seemed to be selling just fine when I went to buy my copy. I didn't see empty shelves or anything. Of course I don't know for sure how well it's selling, but it seemed to be doing pretty decent. I don't think you can say that Prince doesn't get any love here in NYC either based on album sales. His music gets played on the radio here often and and I bet if he played here in NYC again soon, the show would sell out. We definitely have love here in NYC for Prince so i'm not even tryna hear that lol. I noticed it back in 2002, when he toured ONA, sure the fan club members, we filled the bottom section of the Avery Fisher Hall floor, but the people that bought tickets were not feeling anything till he played Purple Rain, lets face it, sure Prince can sell out a show here, no doubt, but to do so he has to do HITS. To me ONA was one of his best tours, i liked the fact that people were bitching after the show because he did very very few songs they knew, when i was looking up at the balcony from my 2nd row member seat, i saw no one moving till he played something they knew. Well, here in Killeen, TX (Ft. Hood) which is GW Bush/Palin country, this past Sunday, they had large P displays holding at least 200 CDs at both the Electronics/CDs and Check-out sections. I bought mine and noticed several still there. Of course I didn't expect much. But after reading Billboard yesterday at the tremendous response, I decided 2 check Target again today. The ENTIRE display at the registers was gone. At first I thought maybe it wasn't selling well there so they moved them to Electronics/CDs section. So I decided 2 investigate and buy 2 more for some friends. Well, lo and behold there were only 9 left in the whole store!! That was before noon today. I started not 2 buy any feeling I might deprive some of their copies but I bought 2 anyway.I talked to the cashier about this and she pointed out that there was a MAD rush earlier this morning 4 our boy! WOW! I expected something like that in LA, Dallas, Chicago, or NY, but Killeen!?? Man, I was flabbergasted. I wish P and Target the best! UPDATE: I went back to my local Target today and met a worker there was was stocking CDs and DVDs. I asked her about the status of P and she said that everything was sold out before close of business Thursday. They immediately received another shipment this past Friday. Curious, I asked how many on the original shipment sold. She further explained that they had received three boxes, each box containing 110 cds making 330 cds sold (in Killeen, TX). She mentioned further that it was still selling like hotcakes. I was flabbergasted!

I go to the Target in Morrow, GA. I have been there 4 times since the album came out(trying to decorate my house thats my story and I am sticking to it) and you can tell people are buying but I have no clue if its flying off the shelf.
I do know that last week when I went in I saw a guy walk by, stop, pick cd up, looked around like he was looking at porn, set it down, then picked it back up and walk to the checkout! WTF? I really dont know what that was about! Then someone asked me if it was a good cd and I told them it was a 3cd set and I enjoyed it... they got it. I was in the checkout lane and the guy in front of me saw my cd and ask me if I would buy his! We made some small talk about Prince, this was all while his girlfriend gave me the FUNK face! LOL So on last Thursday Prince had a ok day at Target when I was there!
