The secret song given 2 another artist: "Make it through the storm" WAS released There IS a released version of this song by Sue Ann Carwell (1981, b-side of the single "Let me let you rock me").
Strangely, people who own the single claim that the song is credited 2 Chris Moon but still, the words & music r the same than the Prince outtake, & ASCAP lists the song as a Prince composition (though it doesn't mention any performer). Now, BMI (where Moon is registered as "Moon Chris Graham") does NOT list it as a Moon composition (it doesn't list it at all, actually.) Obviously, Carwell (who was supposed 2 record the song with Prince in '78) rerecorded it & credited it 2 Moon while not copyrighting it at all. A strange thing, though, is that Prince DID copyright the song (when?) while most of his outtakes, including all the circulating outtakes from this era, are NOT copyrighted. That might mean that Prince actually DID agree 2 the song's release but didn't want 2 b credited. Or that might mean that he copyrighted it as soon as he discovered it had been "stolen". Somebody knows something about all this? Boris r u here? . [Edited 3/29/09 20:38pm]

Cool. Nice info Madcap. Sue Ann, I'm guessing this is the girl that absolutely wailed on 'Still Waiting' march 8th, 1982 (Dance to the beat).
I would love to hear this song sung by her!

Yeah, Sue Ann's version of the song has been floating around for a good while now, I think it was on a couple of out-take collection bootlegs or something.
http://www.discogs.com/ar...nn+Carwell A chunk of her '88 album, Blue Velvet was produced by Jesse Johnson, and very good it is too.
