What if...Prince did an album of 80's covers?...

Its an imaginary project. Limit yourself to only 80s tunes. What songs do you think would be good?

Here's a few:

Urgent - Foreigner
Time After Time - Cindy Lauper
Asia - Heat Of The Moment (with a lengthy guitar solo)
Greg Kihn Band- Jeopardy
Little River Band - Lonesome Loser
Donna Summer - This Time I Know It's For Real
Pretenders - Brass in Pocket (I'm Special)
Alan Parsons Project - Time
George Michael - Kissing a Fool
Love and Rockets - So Alive
INXS - Need You Tonight

:: this is totally toung n cheek lol ::

A list like that, excluding the Pretenders, is a reason I hate the '80s.

I would love to hear Prince do more modern rock and alternative covers. The Santana Medley is only interesting for so long. These are some songs that I could actually see suiting him.

Depeche Mode- Somebody
New Order- The Perfect Kiss
The Cure- Why Can't I Be You?
Eurythmics- It's Alright Baby's Coming Back
The Smiths- Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
Tom Tom Club- Wordy Rappinghood
Talking Heads- Swamp
David Bowie- Because You're Young
The Pixies- Broken Face biggrin
Sugarcubes- Deus
Blondie- The Tide is High
Joy Division- Ceremony

Now wouldn't that be a kickin' set!?

Interesting topic!

I would pick Prince to do the following:

Madonna- Like a Prayer- he's done this already!
Janet- What Have You Done for Me Lately- he's done this too!
The Cure- A Night Like This
Eurythmics- Here Comes the Rain Again
Depeche Mode- Somebody (gotta echo my bro on this one)
David Bowie- Fashion- he'd funk it up nicely!
New Order- Age of Consent

Keep in mind, he would change the arrangement for most of these.

Sheena Easton "The Lover In Me"
Donna Summer "She Works Hard For The Money"
The Cure Anything from their catalog back then but mostly "Love Cats"
Whitesnake "Here I Go Again"
Anita Baker "Sweet Love"
New Order "Bizarre Love Triangle"
GNR "Welcome To The Jungle"
Alice Cooper "Poison"
Elvis Costello "Everyday I Write The Book"
David Bowie "Modern Love"
General Public "Tenderness"
Aerosmith "Dude Looks Like A Lady"

Just some suggestions.
