I gotta give Prince some Props

On Leno when he did that "feel good" tune at 3:05 in he breaks out into his classic white man can't dance w/ brother got grooves hybrid. Very nice!

"Dance 4 me"

This tune is awesome except for one thing: The hallelujah injection. Doesn't seem fitting, but other than that. Good dance tune like something back around Erotic City.

"Here"

this sounds like something straight from Lovesexy. A ballad with accoustic guitar strum, synth and Prince going from falsetto and back w/ pretty good textures.

6.5/10.

"Valentina"

A half-rap trip, almost a throw away but saved the background "hey Valentina" and oddly funky synths. But I think I'm not alone in saying that P don't need to rap.

"No More Candy 4 You"

HAHA I guess we can't say Prince lost his "dirty mind" style. Sweet. Actually reminds me of Ronny Talk to Russia.

8.5/10.

that reminds me of "Souly A Collia" and "Handalusilliah!" I think it fits right in with Prince's weird 80's tunes!

"Better w/ Time"

Lotta people say that Prince records too many of these ballads, but I dig em. Falsetto, who gives a shit what he's even saying right? Its a nice groove.

Ballad - 8/10

"Ur Gonna C Me"

I was going to dog this until I heard the violin samples which are so bad it actually raises the song up, mixing with the funny drum machine, it works. In a sense, its kinda cute.

"Boom"

First thing I notice here is the lyrical phrasing, just flows like a hot knife through butter. Really! The choice of no chorus is cool, minimalistic. Song has a dirty vibe too, the mood + the guitar solo. Don't you wish the whole album was like this song!

10/10.

"Dreamer"

Tribute to Jimi. Considering most kids don't know shit about Jimi, I think its good Prince is resurrecting him once again, but this time more obviously than back w/ PR.

"SOTT" sound. "Play in the sunshine" sound, but more catchy and I can tell its one of those that grow on you. All around probably one of the better tunes on the album. Commercial? Probably not, but Prince fans w/ love it.

"Back 2 the lotus"

Instrumental jam, Led Zeppelin drum, Santana guitar and then Prince PR guitar w/ that awesome flanger-distortion mix. I love the cool effects when the vocals come around.

"The Morning After"

As it starts for the first listen you think instantly its going to be too light, but its pretty good.

Think a nicer version of "ain't no fury like a women scorned"

7.5/10 (this might be one of those that grow on you, could be 8.5/10).

I don't like this sound myself.

I think we can safely say that Prince is now back to his roots. Will it be a comeback? Don't know, but I will guarantee its going to sell more records than "musicology."

Funny, all those "teasers" he released w/ the exception of discojellyfish I thought were weak and gave a bad impression of the album. Crimson and Clover could be left out. Good news for Prince fans, the real ones! Not the ones who love all his stuff like PE. I'm happy with this. I'll go to this concert for sure.
