why are the dates for Crystal Ball and the Truth different?

It was definately included in the retail release of March 3rd 1998.

What about 1-800-New-Funk? -- it was released in Summer 1994.

but i think they should both have the same release date, since they arrived together (in 1998).

Oh, and what about Kamasutra from Prince and the NPG Orchestra? It was part of the Crystal Ball/The Truth release.

I would definitely include New Power Soul.

I always count the Madhouse albums are Prince records; they are every bit "Prince" as Xpectation is.

But then, one could make an argument that Exodus & Goldnigga be included, as well. I guess it all depends on what ya consider a "Prince" album. With Prince, it's not an easy definition.

If I were to listen to one a week for a year I reckon I'd substitute Newpower Soul for the Very Best of since thats the only release that offers nothing new.

By that rationale we'd also have to include the new one from Bria and about a dozen others from Mayte to Sheila E.

That is amazing. The Grateful Dead were together for about 30 years and they had around 120 of their own songs. It just shows how great Prince is.
