MPLS SOUND 9 TRACKS and WHY????? Hey Everyone:
Check this out.....The reason why "MPLS SOUND" had only 9 tracks on it was because this album was a collection of songs in tribute to the old sound and style of PRINCE. Back in the 1980's when he would release a record it would usually have approx 9 tracks on it. This is my theory as I discussed it with a MANAGER at TARGET this morning as he agreed. Did some searching and got some pretty cool information. Here is the list..... 1) PURPLE RAIN---9 TRACKS 2) AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY----9 TRACKS 3) SIGN O THE TIMES-----9 TRACKS FIRST VINYL RECORD 4) LOVESEXY----9 TRACKS 5) BATMAN SOUNDTRACK---9 TRACKS 6) COME----9 TRACKS 7) PRINCE FOR YOU----9 TRACKS 8) PRINCE SELF TITLED RECORD----9 TRACKS Peace....Nicky Tuzio e-mail: tuztones@optimum.net

I think the entire release should have been about 9 tracks. He should have chucked the Bria disc, and mixed the best from Lotusflow3r and Mplsound. Both albums have some of the best Prince tracks in over a decade and would have made for a KILLER single disc release.

God no! All the songs on both discs are worth keeping. He's back to writing the kind of songs that he used to make (brilliant), rather than the rehash that the last few albums have been. I haven't heard the Bria disc yet, though, so can't comment on that one. Also, maybe it should have been a double album, with MPLSound being the second disc. [Edited 3/29/09 12:00pm]

The problem is that you wouldn´t be the one who would choose the tracks. It would be Prince.

I don´t understand why an admirer of his work would wish that. I mean you can burn your favorites on a CD. Your favorirtes are not my favorites. Why the hell would you want less music from the man? Times change, i dont care fore classic albums, at the end of the day what matter is the music, so you do your collection and i do mine. Hope Prince releases one album each semester.

um.....2 prince albums for $11.98...hello? Also those 9 tracks equal about 48 minutes of music.
I'd rather an album be short and tight than bloated with filler

Yeah I dont think I'd be the first to suggest that Prince could use a good editor. Its great that he's still so prolific but whats the harm in being a bit more selective with his track choices? I think the song selection on PR, Parade, SOTT and even the Gold Experience really displayed more care. Dont get me wrong, I love many of the new songs -- just think a solid single disc of this material would chart higher. All I'm sayin'.

Hearing stuff Prince has never released makes me realize when he edits, something great gets shelved. The day of the playlist means Prince can give us everything and let us create our ideal CD!
