RollingStoneMagazine: Rock's 50 Greatest Meltdowns.... #16 PRINCE (vote4Prince in the Aussie RS reader's poll) ***
#16 Prince changes his name, then loses his mind,1992 THE LITTLE PURPLE GUY FELT like he was a slave to his record company. After all,Minneapolis' funkiest son just hadn't been cutting the mustard ever since Purple Rain went completely berzerko way back in the 1980s. (And even today we still don't talk about Under the Cherry moon) It's gotta be the label's fault, right? Well, to make his protest in a subtle yet utterly nutbal way-and to make every art director's life complete hell-Prince changed his name to an unpronouncable symbol. Some people started calling him The Artist Formerly Known As Prince.Others called him Squigles, the Wet One,Glyph Boy or just the Skinny Motherfucker with the High Voice. *** i read this & i thought i was convinced afer Joan Jett's letter & very well made point 2 RS that i wouldnt buy this piece of shit again, but now i know im done with RS magazine 4 good. (i jus wanted something 4 the drive home,2 keep me awake so dad wouldnt change the music 2 something sucky if i fell asleep...i had some early P playing,i dont want aussie country singer Slim Dusty 2 be what i wake up2,my lawd! ~teehee~) the aussie rolling stone have their reader's poll for this yr going now, whats say we all get on the website ( http://www.nextmusic.com.au ) & vote for Prince?show these mofo's where it is ***************************************************************************************

Yet, they'll put Britney Spears or some other "musician" on the cover...ok.

Can RS do anything other than top 50 and top 100 articles anymore? Yawn!!
RS caters to the corporate acts, like Eminem, Britney Spears, etc. Don't waste your time on that trashy magazine. RS should go the way of the dodo, it's just fluff now.

Just Go into your local news store and read the magazines instead. In the UK we have the NME, which used to be massively popular but people got sick of the appalling journalism and it's sales have massively dropped. It will happen with RS eventually believe me. No one could've predicted the demise of the NME but it's happening.

Just curious. | |
