So I played Lotusflow3r and MPLSound for my 66 year old dad today...

...but 1st a little back story...I got into Prince through my dad, He brought Purple Rain home on vinyl one day and was completely estatic about it, played it non-stop. I remember liking Prince's radio hits pre-Purple Rain, but after hearing that - i was hooked. So you can say it was my dad that got me on to Prince. So ever since Prince's popularity amoung the masses started to wane in the early/mid ninties, So did my dad's enthusiasum, but not mine. He loved Sign O The Times and all the hits, but everytime I brought home a new Prince album I heard the same thing, "Where's the Let's Go Crazy!" Yep, he's one of those people - every Prince album should be Purple Rain II. lol He liked Gold and 3121 as of late - didn't get into Rainbow Children (Darth Jahova ruined it for him). So flash forward to today, we get done listening to the new albums and my dad was floored! - He said he couldn't believe how strong the songs were and that if it was a proper double album it would be Sign O The Times Pt.II - so you can imagine i was like eek. Anyway, just thought I would share that story for you guys, it made my day! He also loved the 2 Leno performances - he DVR'ed them and we watched them together - he had a grin from ear to ear when P handed the strat to that dude in the crowd - that was a classic P moment. Well enough blabbing from me - I don't think all my post combined since '03 are as long as this one. - I guess I'm pretty excited about all this, too. As for my opinion of the new material - combined they are his greatest work since Gold - nah, make that Lovesexy. (Which is my favorite album by the way shortly ahead of Sign O The Times. wink

Isn't strange? I don't know how to act with all of this positivity from the usual negative folks! lol

Yeah, I was beginning to accept the fact that we were just gonna get run of the mill coasting records from P from now on (which I was cool with). Neverless I still held out hope that he could still have it in him to blow us away again, and not only does he deliver, but with two albums on the opposite ends of the spectrum from each other. Amazing.
