Prince May Have Actually Done It This Time!

It seems like, (aside from Elixir, which though inoffensive, is hardly great), that Prince has come up with a really, really nice group of songs. A really consistency.

Yes, most of us have recent favorites that we would have rather seen included, but I am fairly surprised at how many songs I return to and say, "Wow, this is a great song!" I've been bouncing back and forth between Lotus and MPLS, and both have some true flashes of the reason that made me spend countless hours here for ten years.

$, Dance 4 Me, Boom, Feel Good..., No Candy 4 U, Dreamer, OSC... Lots of nice stuff. I've already listened to these CDs more than Planet Earth!

I think the biggest surprise is how rarely he took a great song and "destroyed" it with bad rapping or completely plastic recording.

Looking forward to proudly purchasing at Target tomorrow!

I agree. Completely disregard my original opinion of the two albums. I played them on a different stereo system the following day and my verdict is perfectly amicable now. These albums deserves both sales and respect, but that's another thing.

Only two or three tracks I dislike, and everyone else seems to love them. cool

Well put, with Lotus and MPLS he has crafted a modern day Sign O The Times.

I completely agree. I can't even listen to Planet Earth after the first three songs (and I never liked the album to begin with anyway), but I find myself constantly going back and rediscovering a lot of material from LOTUSFLOW3R and MPLSOUND.

Musicology was dull and (ironically enough) under-produced, 3121 was too inconsistent, and Planet Earth had great production and little else. LOTUSFLOW3R is a very nice return to form of sorts.

"Here" is freakin incredible. It's my 2nd favorite song on the whole set next to "Dance 4 Me". Prince made me so happy with these CD's. I love them both and they reaffirm why I will always be a Prince fan. I've said it a few times already but the fact that all this happened on and around my birthday has made this whole project special for me. I'm on cloud 9 with these CD's I really am. I can't wait for tomorrow when I go into Target and buy Lotusflow3r with pride! biggrin biggrin
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Ditto on the 'Here' opinion. i love it! Morning After excercises my 'skip' finger muscles. Sounds like a filler, which I think we know is exactly what it is- for C&C.

My veiw on Prince's output is that it took a dip after The Gold Experience, with Chaos And Disorder, Emancipation, The Truth,NPS, Rave, The NPGMC club tracks, but I don't think it hit the depths that some people think it did. There was still some really solid stuff being released.

hen it picked up again with The Rainbow Children. The instrumental releases and ONA were releases I enjoy but the mood has to be right.

Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth were for me all highly enjoyable albums, and now Lotus Flow3r and MPLSound are his finest releases since The Gold Experience and I think these albums along with 3121 are as good as alot of the 1980's albums.

I also think Elixer is really rather good and the title track is top notch and for me would have been a worthy inclusion on Lotus Flow3r.

This is the best time to be a prince fan since 1993-1995.

I just hope when plays live he plays a lot of this stuff because it's so worthy of being included, time to drop the covers.

Totally agree, Prince you got us dancing again smile
For me the proof is in that I am continously going back and listening to Lotus and MPLS over and over again and singing these songs in my head all day.
On MPLS for example he has probably released some of his most melodic and catchy tunes in a long time.
Hats of to you Prince
Now I want the Live experience again smile

Completely agree, it's music like this that makes me a fan. And for the record, I enjoyed Musicology and 3121, although I thought Prince played it a little too safe on those albums (Planet Earth, though, is terrible, save for a few songs.)
