He plays some interesting chords on the piano and it sounds as if it is partly improv.. makes this one sound like a lame attempt to get on the radio.. i can't think of any other reason he did it.. it is horribly bad when compared to the original Whole heartedly disagree. I appreciate the ONA version, too. I love the MPLSound cut aswell. The chorus is stunning. Beautifully produced. I was expecting another travesty like 'so dark'. I was wrong.. as are you i agree with this. Great remake, beautifuly produced as you said. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

I'll take the current version of U're Gonna C Me any day over the ONA version. I like that the tempo is a little bit faster and the beats on the song really grab me. All of that makes me notice the song much more than I did in 2002, like how cool the lyrics are. I usually skip that version but I really dig the MPLSound version a lot more and I'll let this one play. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The intention of a song like this is lost by trying to "cute" it up. It's amazing in its original simplicity and there is absolutely no reason for this new version other than pandering... 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I agree, this is a total waste, if he was pressed for songs than do something out of the Vault, but this version is not good at all, it would be like doing a Rap Version of "Empty Room". Bad track, really pulls the album down "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Its just too clean sounding, too slick, too produced. It reminds of the crappy "i hate U" remixes, very lazy production, on a song that was ok to begin with, everyone calling it a friggin classic, are the same peeps who trashed the ONA cd. Yeah, i find myself skipping ALOT on MPLsound, where as Lotus is a steady listen. I know everyone is freaking out because he busted out the linn drum, but he also busted out the bad RAVE and Emancipation era slick production "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

This version sounds good to me, not having heard the original. I just hate the lyrics to the chorus. My Legacy

The song hasn't been updated enough. Prince sings "give me a page on my two way".
It took me a minute to remember what a page was. I still don't know what a two way is.

It took me a minute to remember what a page was. I still don't know what a two way is. exactly, I have a vague recollection of some Jay Z tune mentioning Motorola 2 way pager years ago, but that's about it. My Legacy

Why do you say that? Its one of his best in ages.

Why do you say that? Its one of his best in ages. it's the lyrics. They just don't say anything. I feel like a ballad is slow & serious business, and that it should actually be about something. Like Beautiful Ones--very simple lyrics, but a very clear subject matter. But lines like "give me a page on my 2-way I'll hit you back with no delay" and "whether in person or by phone...get you all alone" are just lazy. They're completely unoriginal. And the pager stuff makes it sound so dated. Same problem I had with Call My Name. "I just can't stop writing songs about you" doesn't really say much to me, other than a sense of obligation to write a song about a girl as a romantic gesture. He's one step away from "here's the first verse in the song that I wrote about you/it's the part where I say I can't live without you" Just my opinion, of course. The fact that you like it doesn't mean I think you're wrong. It just bugs me. My Legacy

4 me the original is better ..i would have preferred his version of journey 2 the center of ur heart instead man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
