A list like that, excluding the Pretenders, is a reason I hate the '80s. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I would love to hear Prince do more modern rock and alternative covers. The Santana Medley is only interesting for so long. These are some songs that I could actually see suiting him.
Depeche Mode- Somebody New Order- The Perfect Kiss The Cure- Why Can't I Be You? Eurythmics- It's Alright Baby's Coming Back The Smiths- Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now Tom Tom Club- Wordy Rappinghood Talking Heads- Swamp David Bowie- Because You're Young The Pixies- Broken Face Sugarcubes- Deus Blondie- The Tide is High Joy Division- Ceremony Now wouldn't that be a kickin' set!?

The Cure- A Night Like This Eurythmics- Here Comes the Rain Again Depeche Mode- Somebody (gotta echo my bro on this one) David Bowie- Fashion- he'd funk it up nicely! New Order- Age of Consent

purple music does the same to my brain i'm high, so high
