[Look, the term "Indian Giver" is derogatory to Native Americans, including me and some other orgers I know of. Let's point out that the term is being used by a couple of sites that specialize in tastelessness and not by orgers on their own. I'm going to delete it from the thread title. -Mars23]

Thank you.

Hey Daniel, Don’t you know what Prince is really about? Come on, did you really think he was going to give you his precious guitar? HA HA!!! If he hands you his guitar, and you are a true fan you, you better lick it, kiss it, hug it, honor that few seconds cause you had the privilege to hold that sh**!!! Handing the guitar to the audience has been somewhat of a routine for him as of late. He don’t owe you a damn thing.

NO MORE CANDY 4 U!!

Here is what ‘Daniel’, at TMZ.com reported on last night’s show:

I was lucky enough to sit front row during a taping of “The Tonight Show.” I was there for one reason, and one reason only — to see Prince. After suffering through Paul Giamatti and Emma Roberts, Prince came on and performed “Dreamer.”

As the song was winding down, Prince took off his guitar and walked out into the crowd — I had no idea what he was doing. He walked right up to me and just simply handed me his guitar and walked away. I stood there stunned for about 20 seconds while my friend Trent went nuts. We both kinda strummed the guitar before I turned around and held it up to the crowd triumphantly.

After another 30 seconds or so, someone came around and retrieved the guitar. Now, I was all excited about this whole thing — calling and texting everyone I can think of. But when I came to work today, everyone said the same thing — PRINCE OWES YOU A GUITAR. I believe Harvey’s quote was, “You’re a schmuck for giving it back.”

DR F.B. is absolutely right...I woulda held on to that baby just to feel it's vibration... looked like it was still hummin' when it landed in his hands! A moment any of us fans would cherish...but I wouldv'e expected to give it back, better in Prince's hands than mine...he can make that baby weep....

I feel bad about this little PR mess.
few things:

1. If I were this "Daniel" I'd have thought that PRN gave me his guitar. After all, that pastel strat is not the Hohner wink. I've seen Prince many times over the years (since '85) and have never seen him do this move...(I've know Reznor to give his guitar away at shows)... I have a guitar from Keith Richards for goodness sake, gifts happen... I saw the man's awe and was very happy for him. Upon being approached for the return, I would've been sad and still happy at the same time for the attention.

2. Both parties reacted badly. "Daniel" was bitter and inflammatory... you know I have as much esteem as the next person for the kindly work of TMZ... He could've reported w/ sadness and disappointment at the outcome---instead of tacky racism. Now, the Dr. FB post sounds like a schoolyard argument. This was an opportunity to take the higher road... I mean, it is feasible that there was a misunderstanding (we don't all know the particulars of Prince's live routine). Ideally, there could've been an apology for any inadvertent error-- and a statement of appreciation for fans. The whole, "kiss my instrument" response on Dr. FB was not classy.

I really hope that this doesn't cause additional animosity between PRN and his fan base...

My first reaction when I saw prince giving Daniel the guitar was - Hey that guy should kiss the guitar or pay homage to it - the crazy fool!
Then I read the crazy fools comments & realize he doesn't know Prince well enough, Daniel should realize that Prince loves him but just not like he loves that guitar!
