Seriously funky. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

every single one of those one minute snippets are golden. i would pay $77 just for full versions of 'adonis and bathsheba' and 'everybody want what they don't got.' it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

I would pay twice that just for Cosmic Day! that too. i feel bad that susan rogers apparently made fun of 'adonis and bathsheba,' quashing prince's enthusiasm for the song shortly after he completed it. sure, it's cheesy -- but, holy hell! -- listen to the singing. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

I know...its SOUL and its elegant sweey syrupy falcetto. The harmonies are astounding! I am also impressed with the mantra like "Big House". Reminds me of The Line. I like the falcetto and the lyrics sung. The repeated shouting in the background 'oooooaaaooh!' is experimental and fresh still...but kinda 90's house like. It seems like this was a Lovesexy type of tune especially how he talks about hoping to shake the "Big Man"'s hand in the Big House and bring all his friends with him. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Batdance 02. Big House 03. The Voice Inside 04. Melody Cool 05. Elephants & Flowers 06. Everybody Want What They Don't Got 07. We Can Fuck 08. Good Judy Girlfriend 09. If I Had A Harem 10. Pink Cashmere 11. God Is Alive 12. Moonbeam Levels 13. Strange But True 14. Still Would Stand All Time disc two 15. The Line 16. Joy In Repetition 17. Thieves In The Temple 18. Electric Chair 19. Soul Psychodelicide 20. The Question Of U 21. Dance With The Devil 22. The Grand Progression 23. Graffiti Bridge 24. I can talk about bootlegs until my face is black and blue. I really think Big House would have worked well with Batman / The Future...matter of fact The Future could have been an idea brought out from that song. Almost has the same beat..and to think about the haunting sounds in the background of the Future..sound like the vocal sample in the back of Big House. And you are right they do all have a different drum pattern, but the thing is they all were in different eras.... Straight Jacket Funk Affair

paisleypark4 said: And you are right they do all have a different drum pattern, but the thing is they all were in different eras.... quite true but i miss hearing new drum textures on a regular basis. 'mplsound' literally has the same drum sound on every track. the opening song on 'lotusflow3r' (which i do like) sounds exactly like the way the songs on 'the rainbow children' had their drums recorded. that's eight years of the same two drum sounds! i really do dig the post- '00, jazzy flow but nowadays EVERY SONG has either the same linn sample tuned the same way (see: every track on 'mplsound') or else it has that damned live drums snare rim click that worked so well on '' but hasn't changed since. * wipes forehead with back of hand * anyway. yes. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

You are right...he didnt have many different Linn Sounds that could not be found on the sampling set. I don't know why but I am glad that my favorite tunes he used the camille voice in What's done is done though oh well. I think I heard those same Linn's since What Do You Want Me 2 Do & Props and Pounds. Still good to me anyway. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
