Just give it up. You'll never find anything he makes enjoyable again. Just accept that the ride for you is over. Just retire to the comfort of your old CDs and let it go. I expected that many would love one album and hate the other.. and a few would love them both. Heck... some people actually are digging Bria's album. He pretty much gave the fans what they have been asking for... half of us have been starving for some serious head bobbing funk.. the others wanted a rock album..... and we got them. And collectively they are very...VERY good. I'm not into Lotusflow3r that much though it does have some strong moments for me. But MPLSound...? I haven't been into an album so much this early since 'The Gold Experience' I'm not expecting everyone to be bowing down at either album.... but to be 'disappointed'... not hearing anything of merit...? Then you just won't enjoy anything he ever does again... period.. IMO Exactly. Well said. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I am not disappointed at all.
Prince is delivering three Cds of material. It is all a gift. I will go to Target on Sunday and then maybe join the webpage next month if i make some overtime (money is tight). This is another new beginning, a new phase in Prince's evolution. I am curious to see what he will do with it. I very open-minded when it comes to Prince's music. We are getting, what, 30+ songs. Less than two years after Planet Earth. And he may release more music. How could I be disappointed with that? In some ways it is like when I was a new Prince fan, and I had to get those two or three records that I did not have yet just to hear what the song were like and I was blown away (yes buying 4U, Prince, Dirty Mind, and Controversy all within a few weeks of each other was a mind blowing experience). It is very similar now. This good for the newer fans. Maybe they will get the same enjoyment from the music I did back in the day.

Disappointed? Hardly. I think both of these albums are the best albums he's done since The Gold Experience or Emancipation.
He's managed to put out two classic albums. I don't understand why critics have said they're uneven; they flow really well, and there aren't any weak tracks (not something I could say about Planet Earth.) The only thing that could make it better is hearing Crimson and Clover in the place of The Morning After. Which is why I'm heading over to Target on the 29th and picking up the CD version. I am I just gave up on the website completely and am waiting for Target. I can say that out of all the anticipation I've had for Prince projects over the years this one has been really kinda disappointing. Still hoping for a nice tour if possible.

I haven't heard the records yet, but I don't expect anything of value out of Prince these days.
I won't buy the record unless I hear from my credible sources that it kicks ass. If a record is amazing I own it. Simple as that. I don't listen to shitty music. Even if the shitty music if coming from someone who used to be my idol. There is nothing more painful than trying to get into a record that is just plain awful. IE: Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth. All hype. Glimmers of hope but mostly trash and bad writing. I'm guessing these records are going to be frustrating as well.

I bet you if you named one song that you would describe as such, there would be others who find it of high quality. That's why art is to be treated as subjective... Again, BigDaddy said it best...if you can't find anything of quality on this set, you should call it a day and move one!! Find something else to listen to... Just my 2 cents!

As a 25 year Prince fan I have given up on having great new Prince albums released a long time ago. 1988 was the last great year for me as Prince was at his peak musically and creatively. It has been a bumpy road after that with spotty material, some solid songs and some good and some not so good tours. Prince live in concert is nearly always a great show, unless his set list is full of covers and poor song selections, and he fails to bring a decent guitar player or horns with him. Prince has needed an editor for some time and his mostly excellent return to form Emancipation, was in despearte need of exactly that. If you broke down those 3 cd's into one focused 12 track album you would have a truly great new Prince CD. It sounds like we may be in the same boat with this new release. Planet Earth is, along with TRC, and Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic the worst crap Prince has done on a regular album release, and the only Prince albums not to feature a song in my Ipod. 3121 is not a great Prince album, but at least there are 3 good songs on it. That is what I am hoping for with this release, 3 good songs, or 1 per album. I think that is all I can realistically hope to see from Prince anymore with his new material.
Now if he would just release a vault album every year I would probably get more than 3 good Prince songs every year! Release a live tour dvd starting from his Dirty Mind tour and going through to this current tour would be a no brainer for making fans happy, and also making some extra cash as well! Who wouldn't want a professionaly mastered version of the 1983 First Avenue show, Parade Tour, 1999 Tour, Dirty Mind Tour, Controversy Tour, Purple Rain Tour, SOTT (full concert), Lovesexy (available overseas),1987 Paisley Park New Years Eve with Miles Davis, Camden Aftershow 88, etc etc .....Why he does not release these tours on DVD is beyond me and when I worked for him I asked what the deal was? His vault had 1400 songs in it when I was there in 1995....probably a few more than that now. Prince's music still holds a special place in my heart, but his recent material does not penetrate my being like his older material. I think a lot of fans feel the same way, and we are still holding out hope that a new album, or even just 1 song will make us feel like we did when we first heard Prince. My fingers are always crossed, and even though my expectations are low for this new release, I will still buy it hoping to hear a great Prince song. [Edited 3/26/09 12:10pm]

They want everyone 2 agree with their feelings on a washed up singer who lost it years ago. I am here because the man rocks my boat musically. Love looking at him and fine him 2 be so fucking fascinating. Trust me, if Prince had lost it like some r saying, I would not waste my precious time that I could never get back by complaining all the time on a washed up has been.... Damn! $12.00 and 3 new cd’s and u can’t enjoy anything from them. That’s way 2 deep 2 try to understand. U need 2 hurry up and move on. I still remember the first time i heard PE and my reaction to it quite clearly, it was one of dissapointment. It has about 3 stand out tracks, but that is another story. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
