A little bit of somethin' beats a whole lotta nothin' ? Who thinks that Prince would have been better releasing one really good album rather than three mediocre ones?
If you choose the best songs from Planet Earth, Lotusflow3r and Mplsound and put them on one SOTT-sized album you have one hell of a track-list. This is what I have done and it makes a surprisingly cohesive album. FUNK Guitar Somewhere Here On Earth The One U Wanna C Future Baby Mama Mr Goodnight Colonized Mind Feel Good, Feel Better Wall of Berlin Chocolate Box Dance 4 Me Boom Valentina Ol' Skool Company $ Dreamer Bob's yer uncle! This is the one I'll be listening to in the car - it rocks!

Planet Earth is still a mystery to me. I don't know why he chose to release that album at that time.
If you take it out and look at Musicology/3121/LotusFlow3r/MPLSound, it looks like he was on a roll. Planet Earth was a step backward.

I dunno. I like Planet Earth much much more than 3121, overall.
But I think its release was primarily a tool to hang the 7-7-07 and O2 gigs on. I mean, he gave the thing away in the UK. I think it was just to have something out to tie into that year's big events, which were the live shows and not necessarily an album release.
