I think he's referring to people who win awards promoting images, sounds, etc. that are contrary to what God would want... I remember reading an interview a few years back where he made some comment about that... like your a thugged out rapper bragging about drugs, death, homicide. And when you win an award you want to thank the Lord lol

I'm not falling over myself to hear these trax. I'mma get the record, for sure, but I ain't goin' outta my way for it. I was gonna try to go to the 2nite show, but it seems those tix r for sale or summin, PLUS, I just ain't got the gas $ 2 b drivin' out to LA from Fontucky(Fontana for U non IE residents). I can't afford to take off from work either(and these r the least of my problems). So, maybe what I'm saying is that it's these hard financial times(4 me @ least) r what is making this record hard to get excited over. I have bigger fish 2 fry than Prince's new record.

The way I read it you only get Crimson and Clover on the target release and The Morning after on the download release.

I'm sorry but if that's the case that is really annoying.

I hate the idea bonus tracks on new albums, an album should be a complete body.

Totally agreed. If I buy an album with bonus tracks on it, I rip them to a separate part of my music library to keep the album as originally intended. Don't know what I'll do with this!

well almost everyone and their aunt does it these days, so why not prince.

but the superbly annoying thing here would be that the album would have a
different songs as the third track, which is very weird. i hate that idea.

if it were the last song or a bonus track i wouldn't mind at all. still,
let's just wait and see. dr fb could be wrong, he does say he's not 100%
sure so the site might have all tracks, including the bonus.

it just seems stupid that the video for Crimson will be on the site but the song won't be on the album on the site

It's done simply to ensure people get both and for me that is just wrong, there's no artistic reason for doing it.

I won't say anymore in case DR Funkenberry has misled us, but if it is the case I'm going to moan like Fuk, but I will be shocked if I go to download the album and it's not there.

And I will download from other sources as I'm not paying twice.

This would be a similar situation to the Dance being on Choco invasion.

i know. i really think the target release will probably have the basic
tracklist and the online release will have an extra track because you
join the site. can't imagine him not including "crimson and clover" on
the download version since it's the lead off single from the album and
the video will be up on the lotusflower site.

well, hardly. since "the dance" was completely re-recorded and the original
(superior) version had been released 5 years prior on an obscure internet
only release that only about 5% of people who got 3121 in stores knew about
in the first place.

just like "u're gonna c me" will also be on mplsound despite it having been
released in 2002 on the one nite alone piano album. but once again, this is
a different arrangement and 99% of casual buyers at target will not know or
have heard of that song before. and as it comes on a new album with other
tracks i don't consider it paying twice for the same amount.

paying for chocolate invasion and slaughterhouse after we got everything on
there from the npgmc already, that was paying twice for the same thing and
i did it too, lol.

aaaaanyway, i agree with you that it is fair game for people to do
a google search later in the week and just download "crimson and clover" off
some torrent if it's not included in the download package.

one track different editions signify everything that is wrong with today's
market. people are being treated like idiots.

if i get the 3 albums as part of my membership i expect to get those three
albums and perhaps something extra since i sign up and all. what i don't
sign up for is to have to go into a store and buy that same product just
so i can rip 1 single track off there and throw the physical product into
a drawer. even at a cardboard gatefold that's a waste of resources.

I was reffering to the fact that to obtain The Dance you had to download the full Chocolate invasion album which consisted of tracks many club members had already paid. There was no option to just download the one song.

I wasn't referring to the 3121 version and I never mentioned the 3121 album.

So I'm sure you'll agree the situation, if it pans out to be true has similarities.

redface

i'm sorry. i went off on a rant again without reading your post correctly.

you're right, that's one of the reasons i was forced to buy choc invasion
as well. plus there was a snippet in sex me, sex me not and an extra few
seconds to u make my sun shine. all in all, it was silly, i agree. wasn't
it the same for slaughterhouse? all of those songs were released on that
site before except "2045:radical man" which was on the bamboozled sndtrck.

and THEN he tried to make us buy all that again with that box set that
never came to be, that "chocolate invasion box set", lol.

i'm pretty sure he'll be selling all that stuff at the new site again as
well.

I still don't think they're that similar: one was a new track trying to get you to buy a collection of previously released material, like is done on best-of compilations, the other is (possibly) two different editions of the same record, like you see on iTunes all the time. Both may result in you buying the material twice, but this retailer exclusive edition trend is the more insidious, I think. The Pumpkins did something similar with their most recent album.

I'm just hoping that Dr. Funkenberry has his facts wrong (as it appears that the version of the album he listened to had both C&C and The Morning After) and that it turns out The Morning After is a bonus track to entice subscriptions.

which is why i dowloaded the "exclusive" track off a torrent nod
i payed for the initial album so i wasn't gonna pay the prince
of a full album again for just 1 more song.
