Put the crack pipe down if you think this is Emancipation crap. This is another level. Wall of Berlin and Colonized Mind are steps above anything on Emancipation. Anything. I disagree heavily. Given that I have heard both of those songs in their entirety, I will throw these two from Emancipation that completely obliterate them.. "Dreamin' About You" and ... "The Love We Make" Both CLEARLY superior to either of those songs. Granted, I like Colonized Mind, but ... Seriously... Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

Stop bashing Emancipation....i agree there is some crap on Emancipation but the highlights (disc 2) are close to the best he has ever put out! So let's hope these 3 disc come close to Emancipation instead...

Seriously... yep I have yet to hear a P song as good as Soul Sanctuary for a number of years now, Emancipation as a whole wasnt good, but there are some individual masterpeices on that album. I think on the whole people shouldnt get their hopes up, there is no point trying to think that this is Prince's best effort in a long time, etc because every time a new record comes out we all think its the best one, over time we will know.

This is a well written review that focuses on the music properly not like those other amateur ones we have seen

This review plus the USA Today one... and even the not so positive ones prior... all together what seems to be emerging:
Agreement that LotusFlow3r is the better of the three discs Agreement that Elixer is the worse of the three discs and Divided over what to make of MPLSound--somewhere in the middle Some will probably like MPLSound enthusiastically; others will pan it. But it seems the there will be general agreement about LotusFlow3r ( ) and Elixer ( ) "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

it's funny how ppl re called Prince haters if they don't like a particular song or cd. I sold so many albums and cds in my time (through pointing it out to ppl) that I actually take offense at that stereotype. I am a fan of Princes ability and much of his music. But it is also my right to believe that he has lost focus and direction. Not that it matters to him or ppl who like his current offerings (the last 10 years or so). I am not nostalgic for the old music either. Frankly I had barely played any of his older stuff for 8 years or so. I got back into it just recently and THAT is what has solidified my outlook on his current offerings. That plus noticing how little time his later work has spent in replay while other stuff does. Just my non hating perspective.
