Whats up with Prince playing with three differernt bands

The press release states that he is playing with three different bands. Any idea who the players are and why he is doing that?

On the evening of March 24th, Prince will be performing at three different locations with three different bands throughout the Los Angeles area. How he plans to do this is still a mystery and even his musicians are not sure of all the details, but Prince fans have come to expect the unexpected. In addition, it was previously announced that Prince will play an unprecedented three nights in a row on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 25th, 26th and 27th and will return to help Leno end his reign on the late night show by performing on his next to last show on May 28th.

Not sure how no one commented on this yet

hmmm I'm guessing that it could be that at each location, they will be playing from one of the 3 albums and each has a different sound, vibe, etc.; therefore, the bands will be tailored to the specific album.

Why do people on here say 'could care less' when refering to something they have no interest in. It's 'Couldn't care less'. As in - i couldn't care any less than i already do. Saying i could care less means you do have an element of interest in it. So many people do that on this site. So much so that i've replied.

Ok.. back to my meds

the US tend to say "Could care less" (like a shortened version of I could care less but I don't) and UK tend to say "couldn't care less" (a less ambiguous statment - it's impossible for me to care less).

Both mean the same thing though.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

well to explain my care less comment since u are offended, the thread is on three diff bands playing regardless of the date. so, once again , i am asking about the bands not the date

Yeah, me too. Still, the UK version is better as it is not lacking in logic!

Nobody knows who these bands will consist of yet, but I guess he'll use the band he had at his oscar party for the "Lotusflow3r" night, where he will probably perform Crimson And Clover.

No, no, no...

"I could care less but I don't" still means you care and doesn't make sense. "I could care less" is wrong no matter how you slice it.

But as to the original question: No idea about the three bands. I was hoping Sheila would be in one of them. Maybe now that the date has been changed to the 28th, she will hopefully be back in the United States by then.

Hmmm... I'm from Chicago... we say, "I couldn't care less.". Go a little further south and it sounds more like, "I could'na cuur less.". My N.Y.C friends say, "Couldn't" as well.

But for some reason when people type it.... they forget the 'not' part no matter how they actually say it.

Strange but true.

lwr001... you didn't offend any one... he was just commenting on your phrasing nothing more.

I think the 'could/couldn't care less' thing is like when people don't know the difference between your and you're. Don't think it's a US/UK thing, more a mis-understanding.

I am from the US. I have come to almost complete terms as to how the phrase "I couldn't care less" has been changed to "I could care less" by people who have sexual relations with their first-cousins, and live in homes with wheels on them.

Are we still on topic?

No names have been confirmed for band members, but there's an expectation of some former members featuring.

Anyway, back off topic ...

This whole could/couldn't care less thing bugs me too and earlier I was thinking about asking if it's a US thing in the GD forum. Bet here it is and it's not just me. I agree with the poster that said it's the same as your/you're. Just like too and to, off and of, their/there/they're.

And adding, but I don't on the end changes nothing! You still could care less, so aren't as uncaring as you could be. lol

Anyway, no idea about the bands. We aren't allowed fake album track lists here anymore, are we allowed fake band lists?

Band 1:
Drums, John B
Keys, Renato
Bass, Rhonda
Percussion, Sheila E
NPG horns, Greg, Lee and Mike Philly

Band 2:
Drums, Cora
Bass, Josh
No one else, just like 28/8/07 aftershow headbang

Band 3:
Drums, Michael B
Bass, Sonny T
Keys, Tommy Barbarella.
Horns, Candy and Eric Leeds
Mayte
RIP sad

I've heard plenty of people say "i could care less"... but its one of those things that you dont think about the logic of the saying... u just say it and people tend to know what you're trying to say.

Its like "I don't want none"... its nonsensical for what people mean by it, but people say it all the time.
Change it one more time..

Well, I discussed this in depth in another thread. Technically, you are correct. The correct term for the ASSUMED meaning, would be "I couldn't care less."

But...

Technically-technically... We don't know for sure the intention of the speaker. We are just assuming he means "couldn't care less". But maybe he means there IS some level that he could care less on.

It is therefore our blunder to assume the meaning of his phrase.

Another example is when you correct someone who says "I ain't got no money."

"ain't got no" would be a double-negative implying that he does, in fact, have money.

But to correct him would be an error, unless we knew for sure he was broke.

He may be purposely using the double negative to state that he DOES have money.

He might not want to actually lie, but might also not want to have to lend money, so to get out of it he says "I ain't got no money." You assume he's broke, so you don't ask to borrow the money. But in reality he's loaded with cash but doesn't want the bad karma which comes from the white lie. So, he uses a double negative to mask his intentions.

Don't assume.
