New Artist I would like to know what your reactions would be if this was the first time Prince is introduced to the masses as a New Artist and this was his first albumn. You can not compare him to his past recordings or movies.

If Prince was a new artist and this was his first album...
I would want to be a fan and I'll like the album(s) the way I actually do now...cause wat u're askin is somewhat how it is with me actually (being a new fan and all). I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh | |

If Prince was a new artist, and Lotusflow3r/MPLSound was his 1st album, he would set the world on fire. People would be in awe of his genius.
As it is, he is into the 3rd decade of his career and his talent and musical prowess are taken for granted. We are used to him, and used to his greatness. In fact we constantly measure him against him...in the past. "New Power slide...." |

Well first if Prince were a new artist we are presuming that radio would be playing his music and it would be getting rotation on some of the music channels on TV 
I would probably hear one of the tracks and think 'hey thats pretty good' probably a while down I get to hear another track and realise that I like the sound coming from this new artist so I decide to go out and buy the album. I would put it on and think 'this guy is diverse' I mean Lotusflow3r is different to MPLSound, I would think this guy doesnt really sound like anything out there at the moment, and just there is where he would grab my attention. I would then look forward to his next album, I mean the second album is gonna tell me if this artist is for real or not. | |

In fact we constantly measure him against him...in the past. Skywalker, I was thinking the same thing. If some other artist came along with this same album, folks would be freakin out. Cos it's Prince, as you say, we take his talent for granted. I read a review where they refused to write about Elixer because "it is rubbish". If it wasn't associated with Prince, Bria was a new artist and didn't carry the stigma of being a "Prince protege" this album would probably get fairly decent write ups. Even I dismissed it, until I gave it a good listen! | |
