"Discojellyfish" IS "Chocolate Box". Due 2 the many posts about folks worrying about "Discojellyfish" not being released...
It is simply an extended instrumental version of "Chocolate Box". We don't know if it'll be a B-Side, or if "Chocolate Box" may in fact go into an extended jam at some point... Just sayin'. OK? "He's a musician's musician..."

I'd rather call it an instrumental mix of Chocolate Box and Another Like Me. Maybe it has some more elements of other tracks from the album we simply don't know yet. It could be something like what 2 Whom It May Concern was for Love Symbol.

OK. So when did U lose your hearing, because it's the same backing tracks. "He's a musician's musician..."

yes, it has elements of chocolate box..
but we all know chocolate box isn't gonna have that guitar solo, or that key solo.. so yeah, disco isn't the same if you ask me

maybe 'discojellyfish' will be offered as a download on the site as a digital b-side to 'chocolate box', or for all we know, it could be a hidden bonus track on one of the CDs (doubtful, but hey).

Thst would be cool. Although, I think it would be really cool if P did the long jam songs like in the old days. You know Wanna Be Your Lover, Controversey, etc. Album versions. No edits. Save that for the "singles/radio versions". Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I'm surprised people don't know this. It was very clear the moment I heard Discojellyfish. it's just Chocolate box reworked with some solos.....

Well that's obvious, but there's no indication that Disco Jellyfish as is (with all those nifty sounds and solos) will appear on the album. I agree that it's possible its an extended jam at the end of Chocolate Box, but we don't know that for sure at this point.

Disco Jellyfish is just a jam derived from Chocalate Box. This is not the instrumental track of the latter. We Can Funk

doesn't the official press release state that this song was first
a demo, which name inspired the web designer and then once prince saw the "disco jellyfish" they'd put on the site design, he went back and fleshed the song out more. doesn't sound like it's just a chocolate box instrumental/remix to me. although, fcuz, i've got ears to hear and it does sound like it's simply a continuation of chocolate box. kind of like the second part of thieves in the temple or i wish u heaven parts two & three. the press release also says it will be on the album, yet the ones that have seen the website said the song was not on the album. overall confusion i would say. we'll see on march 24th. besides, most of us already have the mp3 file of the song anway. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The only way one could possibly improve the Disney Channel pop lyrics of Chocolate Box is to strip it down to the music and hope for the best. Unfortunately, the music sounds as if it was prepared for an upcoming Super Marios Brothers release. It's redundant, uninspired and throwaway. Prince is nothing if not a capable guitar player so of course the solo is fine but it's not interesting enough to save the prodding predictable video game music it's locked within. No hard feelings.

All of that from a 45 second sample..... You people are funny. Since the cup is half empty maybe you should finish drinking somewhere else, no?

I'm still kind of horrified of the possibility that the layered vocal intro is, in fact, the chorus. "He's a musician's musician..."

All of that from a 45 second sample..... You people are funny. Since the cup is half empty maybe you should finish drinking somewhere else, no? Wait. In Wall's defense, there is a refference 2 both the sample (lyrics) and "Discojellyfish" (music)... and U know what? He/she has a right 2 their opinion, and according 2 their taste. Actually, Prince himself likely agrees with saying this is a "throwaway", because it likely is. As far as the finished "Chocolate Box" goes... it is obviously intended as a Pop lead-off single, because it's been confirmed that it IS. I just don't want that vocal intro 2 be the chorus. If it's just the intro, fine. If there's some funky moments in the song, great. I'll judge it when I hear it. Don't blast Wall 4 expressing his opinion of what he's heard so far. Everyone should have that right. [Edited 3/18/09 13:28pm] "He's a musician's musician..."
