Funny how Radiohead and Prince are really two of my fave artists, yet I've still not heard this. And I've "looked". Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

For me, he really missed the point of the song, both musically and lyrically. It was almost an arrogant dismissal of the original. When I heard it the first time, I had to drag out Pablo Honey to remind myself that it is actually a fantastic, raw song. Not the soul muzak drawl that Prince turned it into. I normally like his covers, but it's clear, that when it comes to Radiohead, he should leave well alone. [Edited 3/18/09 4:51am] I totally disagree with you. It turned this tune into something very emotional. Wait to watch it in great quality and you'll understand. I like radiohead but Radiohead are way overrated. [Edited 3/18/09 6:01am] Indeed you're right, it was a pretty emotional experience when first I heard it: "..Why the f#@k is he destroying this great song!"

But still thanks for making me laugh!

more uplifting than radiohead's? he's changed the lyrics to "YOU'RE a creep" you know what? i don't know.

Its impossible to even try and compare the two. They are two totally different artist, with two totally different viewpoints. Why must you compare and pick the "better one"? Why not appreciate them both? Radiohead wrote it, Prince must have loved it enough to cover it so either you like Radiohead and Prince or you like Prince and not Radiohead. You either like oatmeal or you like cream of wheat. But if you've never had oatmeal, why even compare?

That's just lazy. But wow, the guitar is just amazing. I can't help but notice that. The drums are also a big improvement on the original's...(They produce a deeper, richer sound to my ears.) This is all just my opinion. [Edited 3/18/09 1:05am] Oh come on... the "Shoo be doos..." are the best bit!? I mean would Radiohead have thought of that!?? Shut up already, damn.

I wish it'd been Radiohead's 'Just' he covered instead - the guitar would surely live!

You're right, they probably wouldn't have thought of that. I'm guessing they may have also missed the idea of having an orchestra of strangled cats in the mix as well. ..But in the off chance they did think if both of those things, I'm thinking they might have gone straight to the recycle bin. ....or kicked, whoever it was that had the ideas, out of the band...

[Edited 3/17/09 21:01pm] well, you and i can both be right, you know. that's the magic of opinions. i think prince brought something unique to his live cover of the song, but i don't think it quite hit the bullseye of how the original song - the words AND the music of radiohead's version - was meant to make the listener feel. radiohead's version makes me want to sigh. prince's version makes me want to go, "cool! prince is covering radiohead!" Who wants to sigh? I'd much rather go "cool! prince is covering radiohead (whoever they are)!"
