Is there a song u rank higher than any of princes? I just thought this would be an intresting question 2 see if any of his fans can rank a song higher than that of any of princes, by the way Prince is my fav artist...a song and artist are differnt things (b4 teh backlash)
the song I rank highest is Vincent By Don Mclean, I truly love this song it demonstrates a deep admiration for not only vincent van goghs work, but for the man himself...from 1 artist 2 another...BEAUTIFUL! In each chorus, McLean pays tribute to Van Gogh by reflecting on his lack of recognition: "They would not listen / they did not know how / perhaps they'll listen now," except in the final verse, McLean says "They would not listen / They're not listening still / Perhaps they never will." This is the story of van Gogh: unrecognised as an artist until after his death...kinda reminds me of whats in store 4 prince really deep song deeper than anything ive ever heard in my life also touches on his schizophrenia "how u suffred for your sanity and how u tried 2 set them free" heres a link for those who aint heard it > http://www.youtube.com/wa...ipFMJckZOM [Edited 3/15/09 17:49pm] Everybody's looking 4 the ladder

oh, plenty. in fact, no Prince song probably even gets into my top 10.
the difference though is that most of those songs are by people who I'm into not even 10% as much as i am into Prince on the whole.

Quite a few
The best ever made song to me is The Rose by Bette Midler (In fact that whole album including Stay with me baby, is probably better than any record ever made). You would almost think Janis Joplin was a Jewish girl with big breasts. Most of Hendrix and Bowie is better than Prince too, and one can not forget most of The Beatles recorded output that makes Prince look like a one hit wonder. I also put music by Queen above Prince as well, no one could top Freddie Mercury and a lot of Rolling Stones as well especially their golden period from 1968-1972 and Satisfaction So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

When we are talking about certain songs rather than collections of work...I can say there would be a reasonable list of great songs that just live in their own way.
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." "Tie a yellow ribbon." "Ode to Billy Joe." "Time in a bottle." "Strawberry Letter 23." "Reasons." "Dream On." "Purple Rain." Some songs are just ageless. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I actually approached it with an open mind but it doesn't compare to Stevie's version. George Michael is alright but the song was redone a little to glossy for my taste.
