The Names Prince fans call other Prince fans I've been wondering this for a while and I just wanted to have a discussion about this. For years, I've heard the terms "Purple Kool-Aid Drinker", "Purple-Tinted Glasses", "Fams", "Sheep", "Purpleheadz" even "Haters" used for us Prince fans. Haters and Fams speaks for itself but the Purple Kool-Aid, Sheep and Purple Glasses seems to be used for those who don't think that Prince can do any wrong, if I'm not mistaken. I wanted to ask all of you in here, when you hear those terms used for someone in here, even you, on something about Prince, does it make you:
a. Laugh b. Roll your eyes c. Offend you d. Doesn't matter either way e. Other Do you like these names at all or do you hate them? Discuss... [Edited 3/12/09 13:52pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

To know that someone is so "bothered" at how much of a fan someone is of an artist, that they have to result to kindergarten namecalling. Childish to say the least. [Edited 3/12/09 11:57am]

Personally, I've been all over the map with it. Now I'm not phased by it. I know who I am as a fan, I'm honest with my points of view and I keep it moving. I'm like 2elijah, the fact that someone would call me or anyone else a "Purple Kool-Aid Drinker" cause we see things the same way Prince does or we're not mad or angry at Prince for whatever speaks more about that person than it ever could with me. It is something to laugh at isn't it? I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

For me, it would be both a) and d). Although during my more fanatical days, it probably would be c). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm kinda in different places depending on the circumstance.
If someone call me a 'fam' just s a Prince fa... cool with it and have o problems beng called a fam. If you use fam in an 'insulting' manner... I'll respond like you just called me a bitch. Same thing applies to the other more obvious insults. But at the same time I kinda laugh when I see someone call another fan 'fammy' or something trying to be derogatory... yet they have a shrine to Prince in thier home like he's a God... but some one else is a 'fam'...? Over all I think its stupid and childish.

Mmmmm I thought I was the only one who could see how others used the word "fam" as if they were calling someone a bitch, a f___ot, a n___er, we could just go on right? It's like those people saying it like that are looking down at you and that's when I've gotten offended in the past. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". cunt, the most offensive word in the English language, if someone calls you something below that level, it won't bother you so much, unless someone calls you a fammy-cunt.
Then that'd be really bad. naughty post edit. [Edited 3/12/09 14:52pm]

I like Purple Hippie myself, but I have met some fanatics who have no life other than to follow Prince's every move and I kinda felt sorry for them. The name "loser" comes to mind. But whatever - if you wanna spend your life savings to follow Prince around like you know him, be my guest.
