That's nice that you think you can relate to me as a musician, it's a shame I can't relate to you as the horse's ass that you appear to be. Why would you even enter this forum with it called "Does my music sound too Prince influenced?" if you have no intention on responding to the actual question? Take your "Forum Sheriff" badge off and annoy someone else would you?

Yes, it sounds very Prince influenced
I agree with most of what Vinx98 wrote (without the sarcasm). I really liked the guitar work. Rhythms are oke but need some polishing I think; some sounds sound to loud, some - like the toms on chocolate swirl - disrupt the groove in a unsettling way... You should try to get a good singer and spice up the tracks a bit (maybe turn up the bpm a bit), maybe try some other sounds (that brass-like pad on the melody) but overall it sounds great. Btw what do you use? It sounds like a lot of vst's... And do you use a drummachine?

Nice songs, but you really should consider using a singer for the tracks - you can do the backing vocals yourself, but you're not a strong lead singer and I doubt you will ever develop into one (although who knows). Drums are good and there are some really nice ideas on the tracks, so despite the criticism on the vocals you should by no means quit producing music. The analog-style sounds could be done with a real analog synth instead of whatever software you would seem to be using, consider hunting down a Roland Juno 6/60, a Korg Polysix, Moog Rogue or something of the kind. The vibe reminds me a bit of Prince's earliest recordings with some contemporary arrangements,.
But yes, wrong forum. By the way, I have been admiring Prince's musicianship for decades now - do you think you can hear his influence in my shit: http://personal.inet.fi/p...o%20a1.mp3

sounds like heavy prince influence but with another layer of the synth horn band sound that is popular in R&B/hiphop today. and some of the bass patterns and rhythms are more modern and more filled in than Prince. But I hear Prince type sounds in every track, one of them almost sounds like a sample of little pieces of the flanged echoed beat from Erotic City. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

There ya go, that wasn't too hard was it? Your lack of respect with the "get the fuck out" comment was a bit rude. I find it amusing that people will write things that they would think twice about actually saying to someone in person. It's a lack of simple respect for others I guess but whatever, it is what it is. I really do appreciate the critique. I have my big boy pants on so I can take the good with the bad. It's appreciated. I dig the fact that although I am more of a songwriter than a performer that you broke down everything from my vocals to my guitar work. It's all what I expected to hear but again thanks. For some reason however you and a few others on here assume that I want to sound like Prince. I know many of you here worship the ground his heels walk on but I asure you that's not the case here. I merely wanted to see how much my years of listening to only Prince music affected my music. If the majority of people here said it sounded like Prince I would probably work on going in a different direction. But since that isn't the case so far I'm probably good with where I am now. I just want to make sure that all my influences come out in my tracks and not just one. Just as P has Hendrix/Sly/Joni/Santana etc in his style I would want all mine to represent as well. Oh and by the way, that other forum you say is a place for music to be reviewed? Well from what I see there isn't too much traffic over there. This seems to be the place to be so as I said before, with the title of my forum question being very self explanatary all I can say is don't click on it if it annoys you. Thanks again for taking the time to listen to my tracks, I hope you bobbed your head alittle bit.
